About / Biography

I started playing the bagpipes aged twelve, being taught by my father. I enlisted in the Gordon Highlanders and played with the pipes and drums which meant lots of world travel and shows such as the Edinburgh Tattoo, The Royal Tournament, film and TV work. There were also ceremonial occasions for the royal family: playing at a state banquet at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh and Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade in London. Over the years I’ve played with several pipe bands and I am presently the pipe major of the Nottinghamshire Police Pipe Band.
