Old Fashioned PiperNot Just Scottish?

Although commonly associated with Scotland, bagpipes as an instrument are not exclusively Scottish, thought to have been invented probably by shepherds 3000 years ago in the Middle East. Various forms of reed pipes with a continuous flow of air are known to have been played by minstrels in Britain since the Roman occupation and piping today is particularly strong in Ireland as well as all over the UK. It’s history and universal popularity allows pipe music to be played anywhere, and for any themed event, be it Scottish, Irish, Cornish or up to the Border Counties, most having their own exclusive tartans, tunes and traditions. For themed events, including presentation, dress code and tunes, please inquire.

Background

Keith was introduced to pipe music at the age of 13 as a member of a Gordon Military Cadet Pipe Band. Since becoming a multi instrumentalist over many decades Keith’s principal instrument today is the Great Highland Bagpipe. Spirit of Skye Piping was formed by Keith in 2014 as a response to requests for bagpipe accompaniment at a variety of events, also benefiting from 25 successful years of business experience in the South West.
