Frequently asked questions

Most pianists & keyboardists are self-contained and provide their own equipment which is suitable for typical situations. Even though the act generally plays acoustically, if your event is to be held in a large venue, or you have more than 300 guests, we recommend that additional sound equipment should be used. Always ask your musicians about their sound system requirements.

Each event is different but the typical performance time for pianists & keyboardists is 2 x 45 minutes sets within a 2 hours period. Some acts are happy to play longer sets or additional sets. Often, breaks can be negotiated but you should be aware that the price may increase if the musicians need to be onsite for a longer period of time.

Booking pianists & keyboardists as early as possible increases the chance of securing their availability on your event date, particularly during busy times of the year. However, many acts also accept last minute bookings, and we have successfully arranged performances for clients with just a few hours' notice.

You should always check whether or not your act is prepared to play outdoors. Weather conditions such as wind, rain, or extreme temperatures can affect the performance and the instruments. If you are planning an outdoor event you should be prepared to offer a flat surface for performers as well as a cover in case of unexpected rain.

The cost of hiring musicians can vary significantly depending on the type of act. The average price is currently £289. Budget-level acts may be available for as low as £50, while top-tier acts can command prices as high as £1534.

About these Pianists & Keyboardists

Finding the right entertainment for your event can be difficult when there are so many different kinds of musicians and bands to choose from. For those organising weddings or corporate events, a professional pianist may be just what you're looking for!

By booking a live musician to perform at your event, you will be enhancing the atmosphere and you’re guests are sure to be tapping their feet and enjoying themselves. Live music can also work as a great icebreaker between guests who have yet to meet. In that capacity, a professional pianist could be the perfect addition to your special day.

"Lee was fantastic on our wedding day. We are so happy with how he performed and constantly had a smile on his face. We had a lot of our guests coming up to us saying how brilliant he was. The music choices were so good and fit our wedding perfectly. I will certainly re-book Lee again if we have another event in the future. Big thank you to Lee for being part of our special day."

Hire a piano player

Ideal for:

Creating a stylish and sophisticated atmosphere, pianists are ideal for those who are looking for a musician to supply background music whilst their guests chat or enjoy a meal. When considering their repertoire for an event, many pianists choose to play jazz standards as this fits well with most audiences and is particularly popular at corporate dinners. However, most professional pianists also have a good knowledge of hits ranging from the past 50 years of popular music and will take requests to learn specific songs if given enough notice.

When booking Pianists & Keyboardists:

When booking a live musician, it’s important you make sure they have public liability insurance and that their equipment has recently been PAT tested. These are both extremely important and protect both the musician and the audience if any accidents were to occur. Before booking your pianist, you should also listen to live recordings and read through testimonials from previous clients so you can determine whether they would be suitable for your event.

Upon booking your pianist, you will be made aware of their technical rider, a list of requirements they need so they can perform. This often includes suitable parking, refreshments, a changing room, and at least one power socket near the performance area. It’s also important to discuss how and when you’ll be paying your pianist as confusion could potentially ruin your occasion.

Prices for Pianists & Keyboardists:

Most piano players will alter their quotes depending on how long you wish them to be performing at your event. For example, four sets of 45 minutes spread throughout the day will certainly cost more than one set of an hour. Most Pianists & Keyboardists will charge a minimum of £150. If you're looking to cut down on travel costs, then use the "advanced search" feature to hire a pianist for events near you.
