Hanwen’s cello art Classical cello performance, solo/ ensemble

Hanwen Feng is a cellist from Qiqihar, China. She began studying the cello in 2012 and has since gained extensive performance experience across China, the UK, Ireland, Spain, Slovakia, and beyond.

A scholarship recipient at the Royal Northern College of Music, Hanwen recently completed her master’s degree (2023–2025) with Distinction, studying with Cecilia Radic, Edvard Pogossin, and Gillian Thoday. Prior to that, she earned her undergraduate degree at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, where she studied under Associate Professor Xiaoqi Sun.

In 2019, Hanwen was invited by the Shougang Olympic Games Organizing Committee to serve as principal cellist for a commemorative video marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, recorded with the CCOM internal orchestra. In 2020, she gave a solo recital in her hometown of Qiqihar. In March 2023, she was invited to perform on Music Open Class, a televised programme on China Central Television (CCTV) led by Professor Lei Fan, a clarinetist and faculty member at CCOM. Her performances have taken her to numerous cities across China, including Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu, Hohhot, Shenyang, Changchun, Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Nanchang.

Hanwen has studied with renowned cellists and educators including Michel Strauss, Ludwig Quandt, Liwei Qin, Kun Hu, and Hanxiang Gong. She has also participated in masterclasses with Leonard Elschenbroich, Natalie Clein, Alban Gerhardt, Hannah Roberts, Adrian Mantu, among others.
