with over 300 songs under his belt there really is something for everyone.
Atleast one power supply.
Parking allocation to permit access for loading/unloading and suitable secure parking for the duration of visit.
Also wherever possible somewhere private to change.
I am completely self-contained.
I bring my own professional Bose sound system to my shows along as a lighting rig where required.
I would need directions that will help me find the venue such as a postcode and upon arrival I would need to be provided somewhere to park and remain during my visit.
I would also need to be informed if there is a sound limiting system in the venue.
I am happy to provide background music before and during my sets but this will all be in the same style of music that I play.
Yes I do. I use a high quality professional Bose sound system and my own lighting rig.
I am a self taught multi-instrumentalist playing electric and acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica, clarinet and electric flute and many of these instruments often come along to my shows depending on the event.
My main guitar is my Fender Telecaster which is over forty years old and has been around the world with me and she still comes to every show with me.
I use a Neumann KMS105 for my live shows which is a condenser microphone which produces crystal Hi-Fi clarity, I also always have an original 1980’s Shure SM58 as a backup.
No I do not. The equipment I use is very expensive and I do not permit members of the audience to “have a go”.
I do however, when required, set up a separate wireless microphone for speeches etc but I do not allow people to play my instruments or sing, my equipment is my livelihood and my insurance only covers my equipment for my own use.
Absolutely. I have been a member of The Musicians Union for many years and hold all my PLI and equipment insurances through them. I am also affiliated to The Foundation for Sport and Art.
I performed at Buckingham Gate Hotel which was attended by several members from The Royal Family who were all up dancing. It was a fabulous night and they were very pleasant and down to earth and also very complimentary.
Elvis Presley was and still is my biggest inspiration for doing this job, I was just a very young boy when he passed away but I remember that day so vividly and ever since then I wanted a guitar.
I also love traditional American country music, proper country, not the hyped pop stuff of today, singers such as Hank Williams, Faron Young, Charley Pride, Slim Whitman, Jim Reeves, Don Williams etc are all in my personal record collection.
My very first start in music was playing guitar for a resident band in a hotel.
It was a great learning curve and I got to work with so many well known people from the 60’s as one of our jobs was playing and supporting cabaret shows with people such as Gerry Marsden, Karl Denver, The Hollies, Brian Wilson, Joe Brown and many others.
I love any live event but I especially love the cabaret styled events where you have a captive audience who like to sit and listen.
I also love those shows where the dance floor fills from the very first song and you are kept busy all night.
I just really love my job!
Yes, I fully engage with my audience and present my show in an intimate and informal way so that my audience feel a part of what I do.
Absolutely. If people want to dance (and often they can’t resist the temptation) I always make sure to keep them on the floor when they start.
Absolutely. I spent many years on the cabaret circuit which presents a sit and listen approach and this is something that I am very passionate about. It allows me to engage with my audience in a relaxed way which allows me to feature specific tracks and instruments.
Requires an hour to set up.
Wherever possible prefers to access the venue before customers so that equipment can be set and sound checked before guests arrive.
A normal routine would be 2 x 60-minute sets with background music during interval.
Or, a straight one-set cabaret styled show offering a full mix of nostalgia music.
Can also offer a full country themed show suitable for country clubs.
(please note - Geoff's country themed show consists purely of traditional country music and although he includes a good selection suitable for all styles from partner, western and line, he is not a line dance artiste)
There is also a full Irish themed package for functions such as St Patrick’s.
(The Irish show consists of multiple instruments and costume changes and includes a full mix of Irish classics)
Yes I am more than happy to play outside but I would need adequate cover to prepare for any increment weather and of course I would need access to power.
I am happy to learn specific songs for a client but they must be within the style of music that I play, for example there is no good asking a 60’s style singer to sing something from Ed Sheeran!
I will usually always choose a set list and play according to the audience vibes on the night but I am just as happy for clients to select songs from my list.
Exciting and refreshing.
Witty and engaging.
It depends on the event, a typical show consists of two one-hour sets with a break between but there are of course instances such as New Years Eve where there are generally extended hours and I would therefore adjust my timings accordingly.
Not always, many times it is just payment on completion but if I am traveling for an event overseas or an overnight function then I would usually ask for a 20% deposit.
Absolutely. I always have and I always will. Presentation is a huge part of what I do and I will always dress in smart stage wear whenever I perform.
I do of course require somewhere suitable at the venue to change.
