6Strings&aCello is a cello and guitar duo. Gavie (the guitarist), an Afro-Ukrainian, was raised and trained in Uganda. His playing is soulful and organic and is strongly influenced by African contemporary/jazz music. He plays a mixture of Pop, Soul, Jazz, Rock and other contemporary music.
Abbie – the cellist, born and raised in London, studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has a strong classical upbringing. Growing up in a multicultural city and thanks to her mixed African/European heritage, her style is quite versatile and she creates a powerful, sonorous cello sound.
Together, we have formed 6Strings&aCello, an exciting fusion of two quite different styles coming together to produce a unique and captivating sound. At the moment, we mostly focus on creating our own versions of a variety of songs from different genres, including R&B, Soul, Jazz, Pop and Soft Rock.
