Big Smoke Brass – UK are changing perceptions of brass instruments with their hard-hitting, high-energy performances of well-known pop tunes unlike anything you have heard before. Formed in 2017, the totally unique line up of 4 trumpets, sousaphone and drums creates a canvas for timeless songs to be reimagined into infectiously feel-good tunes which are perfect for getting the party started.
The band was created by 6 friends whilst studying together at music college in London. Their repertoire of arrangements is arranged by the band and combines with sharp presentation (the band’s signature coloured braces) and tight choreography. Their eye-catching performances have included celebrity events, festival appearances, live radio broadcasts as well as a busy schedule of private events such as weddings and parties.

We can perform both acoustically or with PA System which would require power sockets.
We bring our own PA system to gigs which require amplification. We do not provide lighting.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue and if they require PLI and PAT documentation.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify between our sets at no additional charge. We are also pleased to offer a DJ service, please enquire for more details.
At all weddings we ask that the band is provided with drinks for the duration of the booking. Any bookings at which the band is performing more than one set of music OR is more than 50 miles from London, we ask that the band is provided with a hot meal. This will preferably be served during the break between the sets although this of course is flexible based on your catering team and timings.
A highlight for the band was performing on The View Stage at Boardmasters Festival 2022.
We love taking inspiration from New Orleans style brass bands such as Youngblood, Hot 8 Brass Band and Lucky Chops.
We started gigging whilst studying at some of the top UK conservatoires and our performances developed from there. Since we started we’ve performed at hundreds of weddings, parties, festivals and events across the UK and Europe.
We love bringing an element of surprise to weddings and parties with our 7-Piece Roaming Band.
Our standard performance times are as follows:
1 x 60 minute set
2 x 45 minute sets
3 x 40 minute sets
Set up time depends on the event and line-up but we generally arrive 1 hour before the performance.
All of our line-ups can perform outside when the space allows. The 7-Piece Roaming Band is particulalrly well suited to outdoor events.
The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them. We also take requests for bespoke arrangements for a small additional fee.

Absolutely. A major perk to having Big Smoke Brass perform at your wedding is that we can perform in just about any space without any set-up which makes us the perfect choice for a surprise entrance. This could take place after the ceremony, during the drinks reception or after the wedding breakfast.
