About / Biography

The Bilberries give pop and rock favourites a folky feel, arranging popular songs for acoustic guitar, violin and two singers. From Guns 'n' Roses to Simon and Garfunkel, from Thin Lizzy to James, the common thread is our own unique style. We are a band that enjoys playing with music and will take you along for the ride!

We have been playing together since 2015, bringing a mix of musical heritages, which we have combined to form our distinctive sound.

Contact us for more examples of our work -- we have a variety of songs recorded.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

One plug socket!
A performance space for three people is crucial — about 6m by 4m minimum.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, completely self-contained. We have our own amplification equipment

What information do you require about a venue?

We just need to know where to unload our stuff

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We don’t mind our amps being used to play music between sets but we’d rather not be responsible for choosing the set list!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We’ve performed at festivals, weddings, retirement gigs, birthdays and private events and all have been great fun. Some of the most fun gigs have just been for pubs, though, with everybody singing along!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We’re children of the 80s and 90s, so we love the electronic pop, Britpop and rock of that era. But we all also have a wide playing background that includes classical and folk, so we bring that to our sound too. We’re pretty unique!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We’ve all been playing music our whole lives and been gigging as a band since 2014.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

They’re all great! But what event can beat a wedding…?

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We need about 20 minutes to set up, and we tend to play 2 sets of 45-60 minutes each. We can play longer or shorter sets, but we find that this tends to suit the audience best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We are always happy to play outside, and we fit well into many outdoor occasions.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We’re happy to have clients pick from our repertoire or just let us choose the music.
We take some time to arrange our songs for violin, guitar and two voices in our own style. We’re always looking for now songs that would suit us so please do let us know if you have anything you’d really like us to learn. However, some songs just suit our style much better than others so we’ll have to discuss the suggestions!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Customers are always really enthusiastic! They find our arrangements really clever and fun and they love the set lists and energy with which we perform. Plus we always get told that the music is “beautiful”!
