About / Biography

Blues, Soul, Rock 'n' Roll is an experienced Bristol based band of top session players led by Adam Holgate. Performing 50's and 60's Blues, Soul, Funk and Rock 'n' Roll covers with male led vocals and guitar. They also cover few modern tracks in this style.

Diverse influences include: Elvis Jimi Hendrix, Little Richard, Otis Reading, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Ray Charles, Van Morrison and The Meters to name a few.

They are experienced at performing at weddings and corporate functions and pride ourselves on our professionally and ability to entertain the audience.
Alongside these events the band has performed at many UK festivals including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Shambala, Bestival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Green Man Festival, Stanton Calling, Secret Garden Party, Kendall Calling, How the light Gets In, etc.

They can provide a state of the art PA, backline and equipment; a trained sound engineer; and stage lighting.
Additional options include DJ sets of similar music or extra musicians if needed.
The band normally run a trio format with Adam Holgate providing male vocals / guitar; with drums, and bass. They can accommodate requests for additional instruments including: 2nd Male vocalist with guitar; Female lead vocals; Hammond organ; or Saxophone.

Included in the booking is option of a FREE SONG of your choice which we will learn for your event, perfect for a first dance.

Musical Experience:

Adam is a session guitarist & bassist; sound engineer; published songwriter and music teacher. Adam has touring experience from hundreds of gigs across the UK, Europe and Internationally from 2014 till present.

His main project 'Hannah Williams and The Affirmations' were sampled by Jay Z on Platinum selling Grammy nominated "4.44", the title track of his 2017 album.
As a result they have toured globally and released 3 albums to date with a fourth coming in 2024.

Hannah Williams and The Affirmations headlined the Montreal Jazz Festival Main Stage in Canada in 2018; played at New York Central Park Summer Stage (USA), North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland, Blue Note in Japan, Fusion Festival in Germany, Down the Rabbit Hole in the Netherlands; Avalon Stage at Glastonbury 2023 and have performed at many other festivals and events.

Adam was also the bassist with Ephemerals from 2014 to 2019 playing on the albums 'Chasing Ghosts', 'Eggtooth' and 'The Third Eye'. Ephemerals extensively toured around Europe and the UK from 2014 to 2019. The band are releasing a solo album in 2024 for the singer Wolgang Vaubran recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales. Adam co-wrote and played both bass & guitar on the album.

Adam was born and raised primarily in the Orkney Islands. He graduated with an MA Philosophy from St Andrews University, Scotland in 2008.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Influenced by all the greats from the 50's to 70's. My favorite guitarists are Peter Green, Grant Green and Jimi Hendrix.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We enjoying playing a wide range of events, but our favorite would be Weddings! Great to be a part of someone's special day. Corporate events and Birthdays are fun too.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

2 x 60 mins standard performance time. Small break in between sets.
3 x 50 mins for additional fee.

2 hours setup minimum. Need to be able to make noise during the second half of this time.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We will do our best to accomodate clients requests but we tend to play a set repertoire. Please look at our Song List.

Can we add other instruments to the line up?

Yes - Saxophone / Keys / Harmonica at an additional £250 per musician.
