Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Clara Risu carry a full backline, including all drums, bass guitar, bass amp, keys and mic. Where possible to kit share with other bands/stages for the sake of time keeping during changeovers, we are happy to use drum shells (Kick, Rack Tom, Floor Tom) and Drum Hardware (Cymbal Stands, Hi-hat Stands)

Clara Risu can also provide a full sound system including PA speakers and monitors if necessary.

Monitor Requirements: Where possible we would like up to 5 monitors, with separate sends/mixes for each. We understand this isn't always possible but somewhere between this and our absolute minimum requirement, being 3 monitors one send/mix.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we can provide our own Yamaha PA system.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know the size of the performance area, number of power sockets and the distance from the audience. We will need to know volume level requirements, sound limiter, parking spaces, location and full directions, backstage access and if a band room/dressing room is available during breaks.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We can provide a Spotify DJ playlist in between our sets. We are happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the songs in the playlist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The best gig we have ever done is our first ever gig as a band together at Bessell Scotts House of Jazz. We played as a great unit together and we were amazed and humbled by the amount of love we received from the audience and the venue who booked us. The evening was spectacular and many people were shocked to find out that it was our first gig as a band. We had this Google review from one of the customers who saw us perform: 'We were really blown away when we saw Clara Risu. I think that’s her name. Asian singer with long hair. She performed modern and cool music in a jazz and blues style. The singer and music beautiful and top class. Posh and fab night throughout. Revisiting the 50s in an old jazz club with modern jazz music we can sing along to.'

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We have been influenced by many artists and genres from all decades which means that our band is versatile and can play genres which other bands may not be open to playing.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Comprising of seasoned musicians with over 30 years of experience, the band started gigging in Bristol and has since worked on international material such as Spanish, Japanese and Filipino songs. The band has also started working on their original music.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all kinds of events and we really pride ourselves on being so versatile. We can play songs of any genre and add our own twist to it. We can offer a bespoke package and play any event and venue (from high-end to smaller budget events) We can also play classic party tracks with modern additions depending on what suits the venue/event and what’s required.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We offer bespoke packages for all our clients. The usual performance packages we offer are the 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minutes sets. As a band, we are more than happy to play slightly longer as well free of charge. We strive to cater to the needs of all our clients during the booking process as well as during the performance.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we are happy to play outdoors but we ask for shade, a stable stage and flat level surface and safe power supply close to the performance area with a designated space where we can safely store our equipment whilst performing and during breaks.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We have a set repertoire however, we offer bespoke packages and clients are more than welcome to request specific songs to suit their event especially for first dances. We would welcome suggestions on how they would like specific songs played (acoustic, full band, duo). Our setlists include classics and modern chart toppers and we constantly add to our repertoire.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers describe us as premium/luxury and a class act. Most of our customers enjoy the unique setlists we offer and we pride ourselves on choosing classic dance floor fillers which aren’t usually played by other function bands. We are modern and customers have enjoyed how we blend the classics and modern tracks together to make sure we cater to audiences of all ages. Reviewers have mentioned how high class and sophisticated we are as a band.

Can we request songs for your band to learn for our event?
