Debon Swing Dance Band: Well they say nostalgia is not what it used to be, but the phenomena of all things vintage that has swept the nation is a great thing for Max and the Band. Max who has specialised playing swing music since leaving the Band of the Scots Guards, has noticed the change from playing ‘Glenn Miller’ classics for his parent’s generation to the current resurgence of interest in the whole gamut of the jazz song book, from the Gatsby era through classic Hollywood and Broadway, the Big Bands and the Vegas Ratpack style. Jive, Jitterbug and Lindy Hop clubs are everywhere, dancing to 'young' people’s music of, for example the 30’s & 40’s, of which Benny Goodman, Woody Herman and Glenn Miller were the stars.
Debon Swing Dance Band are Max’s latest project. “ We made our debut in 2012, this is the first band that I have ever lead that is 'nearly' purely swing, but don't worry if you and your guests are not skilled swing dancers, along with our "very groovy" 60's numbers, anyone can party to our lively jump jive sets.
Debon Swing Dance Band play music which has been specially orchestrated by Max, to suit the very flexible and rich sounding line up of our 8 member band. The band size is optimal to give an authentic musical performance emulating period ensembles from dixie jazz to the big band sound through to the 60's. At any performance you will be hearing a sophisticated array of styles from Fred & Ginger, to Marylyn Monroe, Benny Goodman to Frank Sinatra and even Dusty Springfield and Tom Jones if required !
Debon Swing Dance Band' line up consists of 3 reeds (Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax). 2 brass (Trumpet, Trombone), 3 rhythm (String Bass, Piano, Drums) and includes male and female vocalists. They play completely live with no cheating !
Debon Swing Dance Band are popular at all kinds of events where lively retro’ music is the order of the day: from vintage or society weddings, black tie type dinner events, commemorative events, fund raising events, jazz and Lindy Clubs and vintage festivals. Debon Swing Dance Band play nationwide but are based in the Midlands and North West.

"We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best."
"We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade/rain cover, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area."
