What is a Ceilidh? Ceilidh is a Gaelic word for ‘social visit’. Now it is used to refer to a social event, where people gather to listen and dance to traditional Irish, Scottish, and English music. The best part about ceilidh dances is how fun and inclusive they are. The caller will encourage everybody to join in the fun and the steps can be tailored to be as easy or difficult as you want them to be. Ceilidhs are typically danced in partners but, the nature of the steps means that everybody ends up dancing with everybody else at some stage. This makes them ideal for functions, weddings, and birthday parties to be enjoyed at any point in the day, whether you want to dance in the afternoon or get the party started in the evening.
