SHOONYA is an Indie Bollywood band based in London that draws from the varied musical influences of its members, including traditional Bollywood songs, Indian and western classical, blues, alternative rock, grunge, and heavy metal. Shoonya covers Bollywood hits from 60s to modern day and presents them in its own rocking style! Each Band member is highly accomplished in their art and together Shoonya delivers a performance that is unmatched in quality, style and experience.

Formed in 2021, SHOONYA features Aritra Bhattacharya on vocals and violin, Sulagna Nandy on vocals, bassist Prady Dutta, lead guitarist Rajesh Ranjan Singh, rhythm guitarists Rinko, keyboardist Abhishek Ray, and drummer Mishu. Their sound is spearheaded by harmonized leads traded off between Aritra's electric violin and Rajesh's guitars, making them truly unique. The band members have worked with renowned composers like A R Rahman and Chaka Khan and regularly work with major music producers Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix in the UK and the USA.

SHOONYA is working on their originals, which the band plays alongside Bollywood covers. Their name, which means "nothing" in Sanskrit, is a nod to the idea that the universe is nothing but sound. The harmonised leads traded off between Aritra’s electric Violin and Rajesh’s Guitars spearheads the band’s sound and makes them truly unique. However, the band members are quick to tribute their sound and success to bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Nickelback, Linkin Park, Iron Maiden, Sex Pistols and 3 Doors Down.

Shoonya’s band members have worked with reputed composers like A R Rahman, Chaka Khan and regularly work in productions of major music producers Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix in UK and USA. Aritra, the lead vocalist studied Western Classical Violin at the Royal College of Music and later at the London College of Music and also got extensive training in North Indian Classical vocal in Kolkata in the Patiala Gharana style. Rajesh, the band’s lead guitarist, was front man of one of the biggest Indian metal bands in the 90s, called Cranium, who performed alongside bands like Parikrama, Rock Machine and Pentagram. Nissi, the drummer of the band has performed all around UK, USA and INDIA in major concert halls and venues and also as a sessions studio musician. Two of the members used to run their own record label and have also been working on their originals which the band plays alongside Bollywood covers.
