The Brighton Jazz Duo are a young, dynamic vintage swing duo from Brighton! Kirsty and Matt are both professional musicians and have performed together as part of The Speakeasy Three on the Brighton jazz scene since 2012. Kirsty grew up learning classical flute and achieved a Masters of Flute Performance from Trinity College of Music under her renowned tutor Margaret Campbell (Principle flautist, Royal Opera House).

After graduating from her Masters degree, Kirsty's musical interests took a turn when she moved and immersed herself in the local jazz scene in Brighton. As a member of the all-singing, all-dancing vocal vintage trio The Speakeasy Three, Kirsty's love for jazz grew and she began learning tunes from The Great American Songbook. With the trio, Kirsty performed at The Mesmerist, White Mink at The Open Market, The Brighton Music Hall, and collaborated with the renowned Brighton-based swing band Flashmob Jazz.

Matt has been following his passion for swing guitar ever since a trip to Samois five years ago found him playing on a campsite on the banks of the river Seine in the moonlight. Since then he has been a regular feature playing in both Brighton and London, and has had the opportunity to travel around Europe playing shows an festivals including the Cork Jazz Festival. When not performing professionally Matt can be found dancing around classrooms in an effort to help children learn various instruments!

Together The Brighton Jazz Duo's set ranges from popular 1920s jazz and swing standards to modern tunes that have been given a swing twist, taking inspiration from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday to Postmodern Jukebox and Beyonce! As a guitar and vocal/flute duo they require only a small amount of space and a simple set-up on the day which is convenient for smaller functions, wedding ceremonies and the wedding breakfast. They have their own transport and equipment and are currently gigging around Brighton, continually expanding their set-list.
