About / Biography

Having played together for over 12 years now, Sophie and Jack are experts in playing off of each other's strengths, allowing for so much fun and freedom in their playing at functions.

Lineup:

Saxophone and piano, and this can be soprano, alto, tenor or baritone saxophone, at the preference of the client. Standard setup if saxophone type isn’t requested would be alto saxophone and piano.

Members:

Jack and Sophie have been performing together since 2010, ranging from duos to large jazz ensembles. What started as a love for extracurricular music in their school days quickly grew into a profession for both of them, as well as a lifelong friendship, taking on their first professional duo work together in 2013. After leaving school where they began their musical journey together, Sophie studied at music college, and Jack studied Psychology at university. Sophie and Jack stayed in touch and continued their music-making together, as they both studied near each other in London.

Jack is a graduate of University College London, with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, and Sophie is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, with a BMus (Hons) in Saxophone Performance. Throughout their studies they both worked as performers for a variety of different functions including piano bars, restaurants, weddings and large scale events.

Sophie works as a freelance saxophonist in various function bands, as well as playing solo sets in weekly performances around London. Some of Sophie’s performance highlights have included Pride In London 2019 with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, playing Baritone Saxophone and Lead Alto Saxophone in the Seven Steps Big Band, including gigs at Pizza Express Soho, and cruises with CMV. She also teaches woodwind in multiple primary and secondary schools, working with local councils across the boroughs of Waltham Forest and Tower Hamlets.

Jack currently works as a Technology Consultant in Central London, and previously worked as a private piano and music theory tutor from 2013-2018. Jack has years of experience in playing both solo and duo sets in restaurants, hotels and bars, including being a regular player at Rigsby’s Piano Bar and Hertford House Hotel. His performance highlights include performing with a larger jazz band in St John's Smith Square and The Apex in Bury St Edmund's.

Sophie and Jack are more than happy to take song requests for your event, and endeavour to make your experience as personalised as possible.
