About / Biography

The Hound Dogs are one of the best and most popular professional party bands around – we currently perform over 100 shows a year for private parties, weddings, corporate functions.

With a vast catalogue of songs from rock 'n' roll right up to modern classics played with high energy and more balls than a game of billiards, expect to hear hits from bands from The Beatles to The Killers, Elvis Presley to The Kings of Leon.

We aim to not only entertain you and your guests all night, but also take a little bit of the stress out of your day - we'll take care of everything professionally and with real flair and sparkle.

EXPERIENCED & PROFESSIONAL
All members of the band have extensive experience of successfully playing hundreds of weddings, university balls, private parties, charity events, and corporate functions and we're professional and experienced.

On lead vocals is Nigel Thomas - a very talented singer and rhythm guitarist. Something that really makes The Hound Dogs stand out from the crowd is that Nigel has an innate ability to recreate the vocal style, intonation and intricacies of the original song where other singers think it's acceptable to sing their own approximation. It's fair to say that everyone in The Hound Dogs is at the top of their musical game.

RELIABLE
We are totally reliable, punctual, polite and smartly dressed. Onstage we're energetic and entertaining - we're all passionate about what we do! The band is fully self contained, providing a professional powered PA, mixing desk and lighting system for any size marquee, hall, or even outside. Throughout your booking you'll have a named member of the band whom you can call any time, any day to answer your questions and ensure you have great communication - we're always happy to speak to you!

All our equipment is PAC tested and we have full Public Liability Insurance.

FLEXIBLE
Our standard set-up is our 'killer five piece band' with two guitars, bass, drums keys and four vocals - but we can easily change our set-up to suit your preference and budget.

Need an afternoon acoustic set? We can do that too.

DJ SERVICE
We also offer a professional and versatile DJ service to keep the party going before, between and after our sets. You can choose the songs or style you want and leave it to us to keep the party going into the small hours, requests welcome of course! We provide lighting too.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

This is a tough one - but a recent gig playing in northern Italy was a highlight, playing an afternoon acoustic set overlooking the most beautiful vineyard followed by a night of playing full band under the stars!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Too many to mention, though we're all big fans of The Beatles (hence all the harmionies when we play!)

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We're all full time professional musicians, busy doing session work, writing and recording when not gigging live across the UK and abroad.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Our favourite type of event is one, big or small, where there's an appreciative audience with their dancing shoes on.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We take about 40 minutes to set up, though extra time is often welcome for sound checking.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as there's a level, covered surface and protection in case of rain.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

You're more than welcome to have input in our set list.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?
