Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

One of my most memorable gigs was for London Hat Weeks opening gala at St Cyprians Church, Baker Street, London. I had a full band, which sounded magical due to the accoustics of the Church. We performed on the cat walk as models displayed the amazing hats.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I am constantly inspired by jazz musicians both old and new. Two of my favourite vocalisits are Jule London and Laufey. I love to perform classic songs from Sinatra to Fitzgerald which always go down well with audiences.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging in pubs as a duo of guitar and vocals. What started as a hobby quickly evolved into a profession and I've now performed a multitude of gigs ranging from weddings, parties and themed/corporate events. I can offer anything from a duo up to a 6 piece band.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all sorts of events butI feel most at home in fabulous cocktail bars/hotels or themed events where Jazz music fits the atmosphere.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Arrival: 30 minutes before the performance
We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.
Setup/pack down: 30 minutes

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for cover to supply shade and protect electrics from any potential rain, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 2 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

A review I recently received: Mary Jane played at a corporate event on our rooftop terrace. They were absolutely brilliant and really elevated the whole evening for everyone. They also judged and pitched the right songs and volume level.
