Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

A recent gig at a private residence was particularly enjoyable and memorable. It was an anniversary and birthday rolled into one with everybody singing along to a number of songs (Sweet Caroline and Wonderwall were particular faves) and dancing and generally having a great time.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We like a lot of artists including Adele, Ricky Martin, Dionne Warwick to name but a few. Bruno Mars is also an influence and we love his song Risk It All.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Brian and Helen met at an event when Brian was playing solo guitar. Helen arrived later to perform her songs after I had finished my set and I asked if she would be interested in forming a duo with guitar and voice. We have since developed an interesting and diverse song repertoire and of course I can throw in an occasional solo guitar piece which people really seem to like and enjoy.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We like all events where there is a good vibe and people are enjoying themselves.

Can we choose our own favourite songs?

Yes that's fine. However, if they are new songs to us we generally limit it to about 5 songs. Obviously the more notice the better.

Can you play solo classical guitar pieces for the Ceremony

Yes, this is a popular request as it works so well for this part of the wedding day.

Can we use a microphone to make announcements and speeches.

Yes, you are welcome to do this so long as it is within the agreed contract times.

How far will you travel?

We are willing to travel to most parts of the UK but obviously a long journey will incur a higher quote to cover travel time plus accommodation if finishing late.

Can you play popular songs as a soloist

Yes, I can play an extensive range of popular songs as a guitar solo also described as an 'instrumental'
If there is a particular piece/song that you want performed that is not in my repertoire, let me know asap so that I can check it out.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 1 or 2 hours before the performance to set up. We would normally perform 2 x 45 minutes. We’re happy to play a bit longer if required but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re very happy to play outside but we need shade when its very sunny, a flat level surface, and a power supply close to the performance area

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 4-5 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

They will often say that we are polite, friendly and very professional. Clients very often say that the music was perfect and liked the combination of songs with some solo guitar music.

What do you require us to provide?

Very little in fact. The most important having access to a power supply.

How long do you play for?

We generally work within sets of 45 minutes. On average we are asked to play for two or three 45 minute sets. We can though be flexible on this.

What instruments are played ?

It is a duo using voice and guitar.

Do you use any backing tracks

Generally we do not use backing tracks however, the singer may occasionally use one if a specific song or request is made that is not in our duo repertoire.

Do you perform at all types of events?

Yes, we can adapt to play at many different types of events such as Corporate, Anniversaries, Birthdays, Weddings, concerts and themed events.
