Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A dry space to be in - indoors or outdoors!
A plug is great, but if you don't have one, just let me know in advance - I can play from battery power.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I'm completely self contained, with my own PA system. I do not have a lighting system, because for most events I play this is not necessary.

What information do you require about a venue?

The address and a rough idea of the size of the crowd.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

More than happy to play music on Spotify between sets, let me know in advance. £30 charge. You may also connect your own device to my PA system via Bluetooth for free.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Festivals are always a lot of fun. Playing the Marquee at Cambridge Folk Festival was a definite highlight!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My favourite artist (at the moment!) is probably Belle and Sebastian - great songwriting and beautiful arrangements. But I've been most influenced by The Beatles, and always play a couple of theirs at my gigs.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been gigging since I was 13! I've played in bands, folk orchestras and solo. I love connecting with an audience and putting a smile on their face.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

My favourite has to be drinks receptions at weddings. There's such a special energy in the air with friends reuniting, celebrating love, and its a real honour to be a part of that and enhance that feeling with an underscore of great music.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup takes about 20 minutes.
Normally, I play 2x45 or 3x45 minute sets - these allow people some time to go to the bar and catch up between enjoying the music!

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely - its great playing outside! I just ask that there's a contingency plan for rain - a gazebo or somewhere else dry.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

After a few years of playing, I have a good idea of what works best for an audience. However, if you have a few requests I am happy to learn them as an additional extra. Please reach out to me if you'd like a quote.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Classy!

Do you play only covers, or also originals?

By default, I will only play covers. If you request a mix of original music too, to provide a true element of surprise, this is available on request at no additional charge. Samples of my original music are available on this page.
