PAT Testing for Musicians, Bands and DJs

PAT testing, or Portable Appliance Testing, is a check of electrical equipment for safety. Most venues now ask bands, musicians and DJs for a valid PAT certificate before they perform, to show that amplifiers, PA and lighting and other gear are safe to use. The testers listed here carry this out for performers and events.

What PAT testing involves

A tester carries out a visual inspection of each item and then checks it with a PAT testing machine. Once the equipment passes, they issue a certificate and label each item with a sticker showing when it is next due for testing. Keeping the certificate to hand means you can show a venue at short notice that your gear is compliant.

How much does PAT testing cost?

Most testers charge per item, though some quote for the whole job based on the details you provide, and others charge by the hour. Because of that, the cost depends mainly on how much equipment you have. Compare testers on their reviews and the quotes they give for your setup using the listings on this page.
