Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least 1.6m x 1.5m. We also require 2 mains electricity sockets, unless our clients wish us to perform acoustically.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

we provide our own amplification. we don't usually perform at high volumes.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music, in which case we would require a playlist in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We are a fairly new duo and have only played small venues up to now such as The Doric in Edinburgh, The Ensign Ewart in Edinburgh, The Harbour Chapel in Dunbar and The Station yard in Dunbar. We have enjoyed them all. Our guitarist and singer has performed at Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline at the Wee Fife Folk Festival 2024, this was his most favourite gig.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We are both heavily driven by our love of traditional songs and tunes. Robert Burns and Robert Tannahill play a significant part in our set. As for what is the greatest song of all time, “Westlin Winds” by Robert Burns is a major contender.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We have both had experience of gigging in the uk and the rest of western Europe. We started gigging together in Edinburgh and the surrounding area. We have played small pub gigs, sessions and functions/parties.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Anywhere with a good atmosphere especially where people are wanting to listen to traditional music.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 1.5 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we are happy to perform outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. Overhead shelter is required if it is raining for the safety of our equipment and everyone at the event.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs for any event if given advance warning but most of our set is the songs and tunes which we feel best fits our style. We play mainly tradition songs.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

“Great folk duo played one of my events I organised in my community worth booking and listening to very much a unique and different sound from many other bands/duos”
