Born and raised in Oslo, Norway with an indian background, Gurki grew up with a wide range of musical influences hailing from all over. Over time as he kept discovering new artists and styles from all over the world, Gurki decided to pick up a pair of sticks to pave his own way into the world. Over time Gurki decided to move to England to study at The Liverpool Insitute for Performing Arts, but decided to stay after graduating after falling in love with the UK music scene.
Gurki has played with a variety of artists in his time, having to play with everything from double bass drums, to brushes, to a sample pad to mix acoustic and electronic sounds and trigger a backingtrack. Versatility and discovering new ways to play the kit is something Gurki prides himself on, and hopes to pass this on to his students as well.
Gurki also has experience in sight-reading and writing drum notation.

My favorite gig that I have played has to be Oslo Pride 2024. It was with the Norway-based artist Frimann, who's songs are disco-pop inspired. Frimann put on a show and the audience was absolutely on fire.
I have taken inspirations from various different artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, James Brown, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Metallica, Muse, Anderson .Paak, Arctic Monkeys, J Dilla, Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Destiny's Child, Aaliyah, Post Malone.
Favorite Song at the moment is Human Nature by Michael Jackson
I listen to all types of music and I try to incorporate this in my playing to give the music more life.
I started gigging at a very young age after I joined my first originals band at 14 years old. I started drumming for a couple different artists in my area, and afterwards I started at LIPA where I joined a variety of different bands in different genres to expand my vocabulary and learn how to function in different musical environments.
I love playing any event that is packed where people are dancing and singing along to the music.
