We are Porters either a quartet, duo or solo jazz musician (occasionally a quintet or a septet too!) and we play smooth, classy, classic jazz to help create a sound backdrop for your event. We play for any kind of party, from a wedding drinks reception, to a book launch, a corporate lunch, a barbecue, birthday party, house party, garden party - any gathering, any setting. When there's a gathering of people, we know that what works is to have music in the background - authentic and well played for those interested to listen, but unintrusive enough for those who want to talk, laugh, drink, eat, be merry without having to shout to be heard over the music! We can play anything from half an hour to several sets over several hours and we will work with you to create the perfect dynamic to your event. You can use our PA for any speeches you're planning, we can play background music for you even when we are not playing and in general, you'll find us really helpful, responsive, very friendly and experienced to help you make the most of what we can do. Our main offerings are a four piece (Porters Quartet) or a two-piece - (Porters Two) - they are explained below. Our musicians are all very experienced and talented and above all, highly professional. When we take part in your event, you can count on us to be discreet, impeccably behaved and punctual and to be friendly and helpful to you and your guests. Porters Quartet: four experienced jazz musicians (saxophone, double bass, drums and piano) combine to deliver a classic jazz sound. From easy listening to cool jazz, up-tempo and latin flavours to give your event that relaxed and classy ambience. We will happily play tucked away in a corner quietly or be more of a centrepiece for your event. We don't take up much space, we can dress up (or down!) according to your event and we'll do our utmost to accommodate your wishes to help your event work beautifully. We have a big library of tunes on offer, lots of well known jazz standards and plenty that you might not have heard of but it's all played with panache and joie de vivre by four enthusiastic musicians who bring many years of professional experience to this quartet. Porters Two: two live musicians - trumpet and saxophone with a professional trio backing. An authentic sound from a very compact ensemble combining the live sound of tenor saxophone & flute with trumpet and flugel horn. Guests often say they thought there was a whole band playing or that a CD was playing before they see us. A broad repertoire of excellent music from across the decades delivered with joie de vivre. Perfect for smaller gatherings, tight spaces or where the budget doesn't permit the full band.

Porters Uno: a solo saxophone playing with a professional jazz trio backing recorded by the best session musicians. The sound is highly authentic whilst the band of just one player and a small compact PA speaker can fit in a corner unobtrusively. Where space and budget are a bit tighter, this might just be perfect. Our saxophonists are professional, highly experienced and talented. They understand the love that people have for the sound and deliver beautiful, classy playing to you and your guests over the course of an afternoon or evening. For weddings, we're often asked to play a tune for the bridal procession - a solo saxophone can be a stunning sound to start off the ceremony.
