About / Biography

Greetings, I'm Mark, welcome to my ambient rock influenced music project.

I record, compose, and produce my own music as well as some covers, and play live all guitar layers and percussive beats at your event. All of the tracks are performed live in a solo setting with me using looping and percussive beats with just the three essentials – guitar, amplifier and my trusted set of effects pedals; I am a one-man band who creates generous space for live improvisation. Vocal tracks are also available depending on the event and to your request. It would be a pleasure to create a soundtrack to your event! :)

A little about me - I am an experienced musician who has had a journey through the diverse landscapes of London's music scene and has since ventured through a set of experiences and collaborations. My musical journey began with stints in various bands and as a sideman guitarist, with notable appearances alongside artists such as Gabby Young & Other Animals in the vibrant London music scene. One of the highlights of my early career was gracing the Maida Vale Live Lounge for Radio 1 in 2008, where I showcased my guitar prowess alongside hip-hop artist Pyrelli.

In 2009, I found myself standing in as a guitarist for a charity gig featuring the London Afrobeat Collective and Dele Sosimi, showcasing my versatility and adaptability on the stage.

In 2011, I ventured into the local music scene in Worcestershire, contributing my guitar skills to a band and collaborating in the studio with the future pop sensation, Becky Hill whilst working with the esteemed producer Gavin Monaghan. As my journey unfolded, I transitioned into a solo artist, marking a significant milestone with a BBC Introducing session in 2016, doing the rounds as a solo artist and with a support band at festivals such as Nozstock, Livestock, RHS shows, Worcester Beer and Cider festivals and local events in and around Worcestershire.

Today, I am delving into new musical realms, employing reverbs and live looping techniques for the Towers of Plain project. The project's first EP release marks the culmination of my musical evolution, with new sounds constantly in the making.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Free parking for one car would be ideal, if the venue has paid parking it would be charged on top of the fee. I need a 3m x 2m space as a minimum, more is always welcome. One socket is all that is required.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I've got all the required sound equipment including the PA, however have no lighting equipment.

What information do you require about a venue?

If the postcode covers a large area and/or you know it is difficult to find, please advise on known directions.
Any info on close access to carry equipment and free parking at the venue would be greatly appreciated.
A venue contact usually works great so we can discuss any technical details, limitations or directions if required.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I am happy to play a Spotify playlist you've put together or choose music that would match my set list stylistically in between the set. If the music is required before and after my set - please get in touch to advise on timings.

This music is influenced by Fila Brazilia, Ben Howard, Pink Floyd, Bibio, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Jeff Buckley, Kate Bush, London Grammar, The Egg and many more that are likely in my subconscious :)

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I would normally arrive 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance. However, if I am playing a wedding or anywhere where the setup needs to be done more in advance, I am happy to come earlier.
Depending on the event requirements I would typically play anything between 30 and 90 minutes.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am happy to play outside, but I would like to perform in the shade with a flat level surface and a power supply within reach of the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients can choose to hear as many of the covers (mostly vocal tracks) in my setlist as they want. Or they can specify to keep it instrumental only.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Relaxing music perfect for a chilled sunny afternoon or for a non intrusive background accompaniment.
