mex.fS is the artist name of percussive guitarist Joseph Gravil. Composing original compositions, while playing the guitar on his lap, using the neck of the guitar like a piano to create dual melodies and rhythms, while utilising the whole body of the guitar pecussively to tie everything together. His show is almost as visual as it is audio, performing in a unique style that most people are unfamiliar with on an instrument their very famiiar with. Ambient and upbeat instrumental melodies woven with percussion and natural harmonics, his show is as unique as it is performance art.
Currently based in London, mex.fS has peformed all over the world, at weddings, business events and private hire, as well as having composed and performed for live theatres and advertisments, as well as countless festivals including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and The Wings Fest. He has held residencies at 5star London hotels, and performed for large corporations, such as Boeing, Virgin and The Royal British Navy. mex.fS also had the privelage of recording at the world famous Abbey Road Studio, in London. He is equally as comfortable performing in cosier venues, including garden parties, pubs and cafes and private events.

Capable of performing in all sizes of spaces and environments, be it on a large stage or in a more intimate space. Generally need one power socket, but am happy to provide my own portable power system should it be outside or not near a power source.
I'm completely self contained! I provide my own PA system (up to 1000w) and mixer, as well as my seating, pedal board and microphone. I can also bring a simple but cosy ambient lighting set up should you desire.
Id need to know any directions that will help me find the venue and find the right place.
Yes, im happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between sets. Im also happy to choose the music myself or let the client choose the music.
Oh too many to choose from! I loved performing in theatre in the round at the Manchester Royal Exchange theatre for Twelth Night. But equally loved performing at the Strawberry Fields festival in the outback in NSW in Australia. Equally beautiful was a wedding in the mountains of Switzerland, and the most interesting would of been for the Autumn moon festival in Beijing, China. Personally though, my favourite would of been on request of Robert Smith from The Cure, who booked me to play at the South Bank Centre in London, when he curated a festival there, as Ive always been a huge fan of his music so was an honour for me that he knew and liked my music.
Andy Mckee, Newton Faulkner, Eric Mongrain, Ben Howard, John Mayer, Dallas Green (city and colour), John Butler, Tommy Emmanuel.
I started music when I was 7, originally being classically trained on flute, and then drums/percussion where I played both in local orchestras. As a teenage I taught myself guitar, and then went to college and university to study music technology/live sound and then production. I spent my early 20s performing around Europe, as well as the US, before moving to Australia for a while. In 2017 I moved to London to further my music career, where I've been based since. Ive worked full time as musician since 2014.
I love performing all types of events, and have never not enjoyed a show. The reaction and compliments from the crowd is always so pleasing, and I love that my show can bring people joy and help to curate the perfect atmosphere for their event.
I normally arrive about 1 hour before my first show, and can get set up and sound checked within 10/15 minutes.
My usual set time is either 60mins or 45s, but due to the physical strain my style puts on my hands and wrists I generally try not to play more then 2.5 to 3 hours per day, with breaks in-between. Albeit im happy to perform whatever length and amount of sets the client desires.
Yes, im more then happy to perform outside! I have a portable external power supply so can play anywhere even if there's no power.
I mostly play originals with a few covers thrown in, but am happy to discuss the set list with the client and am very happy to compromise. I can take requests to learn specific pieces for clients, but would need notice in order to learn and rearrange it in my style and practice them too.
Previous clients have noted how unique my show is, most saying they've never heard or seen anyone play like me before. Also regularly complimented is my professionalism, punctuality, friendliness and eagerness to please the client, making the booking as seamless and easy as can be.
