Reviews of RASTRUM Ceilidh Band

For a small band Rastrum packs a big punch. We asked them to play in the evening at our first 'All Staff' event, as someone had suggested a ceilidh could be a good way to get everyone together. It certainly worked and, although dancers were tentative to start with, by the end of the session virtually the whole group was involved.
First rate playing, patient guidance on what to do (as 80% of attendees had never done this before) and a good vibe all round. A really fun and memorable evening was had by all.

Paul was recommended to us by a former colleague. He provided a strong three-piece band to lead a ceilidh at our wedding reception. For an intergenerational group of mixed-ability dancers (including some with no ability) he was encouraging, clear in his verbal instructions, and the band uplifting and rhythmic. Just about everybody participated in the dancing at some point or another in the evening, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. Communication with Paul at all stages was straightforward and easy, and I would heartily recommend him and his ensemble should anybody be considering commissioning a ceilidh!

We hired the band many months ago. The communication has been great.
On the night they came and set up easily without needing extra help so the party could continue.
The music was great and the calling made following the steps really easy. Every single party goer joined in. They did a great job. Now to find the next event to invite them to ....

Absolutely superb!

Rastrum played for our Burns Night at the University of York last week and it was one of the most successful student events we've had in months! It was the perfect setting for students to relax and have fun with old and new friends. The atmosphere was just buzzing and we've already had requests from students asking to do this again. The band were flexible with our venue change and were generous with the dances. The caller was very clear and warm which made the evening incredibly inclusive, especially as over 100 of our students had no idea what a ceilidh was at the start of the evening! So by popular demand I think we'll be getting a ceilidh booked in again very soon. And last but not least, the band play together perfectly and the tunes they chose were brilliant.

We had a wonderful ceilidh and couldn't recommend Paul and the team highly enough!

What an amazing evening of live ceilidh music. The group were a hit with people of all ages and everyone in the room was up dancing! We have had wonderful comments about the music and the superb calling. I have even had a request for the details so a birthday party can be booked in plenty of time!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you for the ceilidh on Saturday night. You and Sarah were fantastic and thank you for getting everyone up and dancing. So many people have told us it was the most fun they’ve ever had at a wedding! Thank you also for letting us borrow your equipment to play music for the rest of the night.

Excellent evening last night dancing to Paul Young and Sarah Loughran at St Dominic’s. Hope to see this duo again soon, they gel beautifully together. Lovely stuff!

Rastrum arrived with plenty of time to set up and prepare for our party. It was a fabulous evening which was made possible by the band. The music was fun and lively and almost every person in the hall danced all night.
