Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I take up a small footprint (as little as 2mx2m) and ideally just need a plug socket. I do have battery powered option if required. I would need a single parking space either close to the performance area or ability to drop my gear off.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I can provide PA and all equipment I need (including spares of almost anything just in case), but I do not supply lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

Any sound restrictions, as well as location and any special requirements for access. It's good to know the layout and size of the performance space to ensure I bring the right gear.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, with prior agreement I am happy to play songs through my speaker for free between the sets, but there may be additional cost to do so before or after, as it would affect arrival/departure time. This can be from my own device or the client's.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I sang on stage at the Cambridge Folk Festival which was very special as it's my home town. I also played a gig for a Brewery party for pub landlords which was a great test of my skills to win over an expert crowd!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I fell in love with singing because of the soul greats - Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, and I wanted to perform because of rock legends like Hendrix, Stevie Nicks and The Rolling Stones. Ultimately, I'll always be an indie kid at heart though, and have been to hundreds of gigs over the years including Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, Pulp, The Killers, Muse, Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, The Cure, Paul Weller, The Strokes and Sam Fender.

When I play, I bring these influences together, taking elements of different styles and genres to suit the occasion. I've played Mr Brightside as a slow dance and Just The Two Of Us as a funk song - it just takes a bit of imagination!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've played guitar for over 20 years, and got into the open mic scene of Cambridge over a decade ago having been encouraged by my friends. I built a name as a singer and performer and from there I moved on to solo pub gigs which led to all sorts of other events and occasions. I still play pub gigs regularly to keep my eye on punters' requests and am constantly developing new songs and arrangements to keep things fresh. I have also been the singer and guitarist in a functions band since 2025.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I'll always have a soft spot for a beer festival, but iy has to be weddings; especially early afternoon when you can see people give a little hip wiggle and a singalong under their breath, and I make it my mission to get them to let their hair down.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I aim to arrive at least an hour before a performance to give me plenty of setup time and account for any possible traffic issues. I usually perform for 2x45mins sets, but this can be longer if there are some more chilled out songs.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am, and have a battery powered set up if needed, although need cover in case of extreme heat or rain.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I can learn specific songs where I can do it justice (nobody is happy if I'm trying to play thrash metal on an acoustic guitar - I'll be honest if I don't think it will work). I have a songlist of over 180 songs which I am happy to share, and with sufficient notice can play anything on the list. I am also happy to get an understanding of the clients taste and a few favourites, and then have some flexibility to read the crowd on the day.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I usually get comments about my vocals in particular, but also often hear that my sets include great songs which aren't in your typical acoustic singer's repertoire.
