Tim Wakefield sings sweet country blues, with electric slide accompaniment, country picking, glittering harmonica and occasional stomp. He celebrates classic country, old-time gospel, bluegrass and the deep roots of the blues, igniting audiences with his lovingly curated repertoire and compelling storytelling.
“Tim has performed for us at our Record Shop Cafe Bar in Sheffield several times in the past few years and we have always found him to be a pleasure to work with. He's a great entertainer and a consummate professional. Would recommend.”
- Nicole from Cole’s Corner, Sheffield
Honing his craft since the ripe old age of 7, is Tim’s lifeblood. From playing at his school prom, to setting up a nine-piece touring party band, founding a studio with like-minded musicians, and countless gigs from front rooms to the City Hall, Amsterdam to the Algarve, Tim has an enduring passion for music that has guided his life and influenced many people.
Tim’s notable performances include Shambala Festival, Boomtown Festival and Peace in the Park in his hometown of Sheffield.
"Authentic, raw, and incredibly talented. Tim captures the spirit of Americana. With his inspiring guitar work and a voice that sounds traditional yet fresh . Tim is one of the best on the scene today!" - Ian Staves, Musician, Sheffield
Tim really began to experience the transformative power of music when he first picked up the saxophone, but it wasn’t until one unseasonably warm morning in 1999 that Tim found himself firmly on the path that he would follow for the next 27 years.
A friend was showing him the basics of blues harmonica in Sheffield’s Botanical gardens. Due to the exceptionally glorious weather, BBC Radio Sheffield were in the park recording, and Tim was broadcast across South Yorkshire later that same day playing “Love Me Do”.
By August of that year, Tim had begun writing his own songs, having discovered how music can reach people in ways that nothing else can. For Tim it was his gateway into a completely unexpected world of cowboys, bards, ancient poetry hiding in modern verse, mythology and reality - the melody and rhythm that is the sound of 20th century America.
Tim’s music will take you from the West Coast of California, to the coffee shops of New York, to the mighty Mississippi, via the smoky mountains, the great lakes and the vast open prairie with those waves of grain. You may spend a little time at the border, you may choose to stay in Texas forever, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll get to know this mysterious country a little better with Tim as your guide.
From that first serendipitous spring morning, Tim has searched and strived to find the best songs, the best lyrics and the finest grooves that capture something out of the ordinary, something unseasonably good. He wants his audience to just feel a little bit better about things than they did before they started listening.
Tim is currently preparing for new local and international tours, sharing his passion and working on a new album. He continues captivating new audiences while honouring the traditions that shaped his music.

I only need a small space as a solo artist, but will need to negotiate if you want a duo, three or four piece.
I can provide sound equipment.
It helps me to know the right place to load in my equipment and information about parking. I also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
I can provide a curated Spotify/DJ service between sets of on-brand music.
Hard to blame one person. Let's try Gram Parsons. He's my favourite. My fave song of his is A Song For You, and this may be the greatest song of all time, but there's some pretty tough competition. I personally love Six Days On the Road too.
I can set up in a hour. I can perform two sets of around 45 -60 mins.
Yes.
I may be willing to learn a song if it is classic country/blues. I'm afraid I'm not much of a fan of modern music, and if I don't like it, I can't memorise it.
Upbeat, joyous, happy music.
