Review Centre: Solo Musicians

"I had arranged a mini music festival party in a marquee in the garden,for my 70th birthday celebrations, it was a family and friends event covering all age groups, I wanted easy listening 60s/70s type songs and after listening to Chris's compilation demo tape he fitted the bill. A good time was had by all, and everyone commented how good Chris was. Not only a good musician but a warm and friendly person. I would definitely recommend him and I would book him again if I was organising another party. "

"Becky was absolutely brilliant, professional and a very talented musician. Becky performed at our wedding ceremony and all our guests commented on how wonderful Becky was. Becky turned up in good time and setup without any trouble. Thank you Becky for learning the extra songs for us, and it was wonderful to hear your cover of Unison by Bjork. "If you haven't seen Grace before, or if it's a while since you last saw her, you're in for a nice surprise. It's unusual to witness anyone who can silence an audience with their ability to play, sing and visually entertain. A small crowd of music lovers in a tastefully furnished bar in the back streets of St Albans, we were there to listen and to be part of the moment. Grace and pretention don't mix. Maybe she has the most apt name of anyone you'll ever see play live. (Actually, Joy would have worked too.) You can tell that she adores what she does; while there's the odd moment of wild abandonment in Grace's performance, her poise is unshakeable and the music is always from the soul and shared with passion. Grace plays with a pair of mics and a dual pedal-based multi-layered loop station. Her songs build, bar by bar, making it fascinating not only to hear, but to see, live music being created in front of you. She played a few covers with the loop station, but her own songs, some of which were played live, some with original backing tracks, stood out too. I'd say that Grace's vocal control is amongst the best I've heard: strong and confident but comfortable and warming all at the same time. The guitar playing was tasteful, rhythmic and melodic. No keyboard this time, but to be honest, we didn't miss it. Grace handled us - including a rather bizarre heckler - with gentle skill and natural humour. Next time you question your existence whilst sitting on your TV sofa, remember two important things: that there's an invention called catch-up TV on the Internet, and that an evening spent with Grace G is a rare opportunity not to be missed."

"We had Jan play sax at our wedding reception. He was fantastic. Ibiza classics and also some older tunes something for everyone. It got everyone on the dance floor. We had the best day and night. "

"Isn't Mason talented totally different style to what I've seen before, but technically he's outstanding. I cannot fathom how he can 'hear' that all those notes will just 'go' with the music that's playing. Magic."

"I would highly recommend both your booking service and Elliot Rooney. Booking was easy and professionally managed. Elliot delighted our guests, I had asked for him to gauge the audience and he find just that, all our guests commented how much they had enjoyed his mystic during the event and how lovely a tone Elliot had when he sang. "Isobel was a dream to work with from the outset. Professional, quick to respond to queries and really accommodating of our timings and venue location even though it was quite far for her to travel. She was friendly and helpful when we were discussing the length of gig and asked for the kinds of songs and artists we would like her to cover in the set with the bride-to-be in mind. On the day of the gig she was punctual, brought all her own equipment and was quick to set up. She is a wonderful singer and also great a getting the crowd involved- everyone was up dancing, singing along and enjoying themselves. She is a talented musician singing and playing the guitar and covered a range of genres and eras across her set, there was something for everyone! I would 10/10 recommend Isobel to anyone considering booking her for a gig, large or small. I have seen her play much larger venues and she was brilliant there as well as for a smaller private party setting like ours. "

"I just wanted to thank you for our stunning music for our ceremony yesterday. I am so sorry I didn’t get to thank you in person. So many people have said how beautiful it was and made the ceremony what it was… just perfect!!! We were over the moon with everything, especially the Ink spots which meant so much and caused watery eyes. Broken arrow was so lovely to hear on the harp… it was all just perfect though. I can’t thank you enough! "
