About / Biography

Oli Jones and Rob Quo met during a jam session, originally bonding over their love for old-time Blues and Jazz. After playing more together, they began to branch out and explore songs of all different eras and genres.

Beginning their gigging life as a Jazz duo (Vocals/Piano), they then added the guitar to give a rootsy rhythmic drive to the sound. Both sophisticated instrumentalists in their own right, their natural chemistry creates a unique and enthralling dynamic which incorporates the best of many musical modes and textures. Drawn to anything with soul, Jones & Quo can rock, swing or groove, with improvisation at the core of everything they do.

A bit more on both:

Rob Quo is a singer-songwriter of 10 years, playing stages up and down the country and recording/releasing his own music as well as performing a broad repertoire of popular song in a variety of guises.

Oli Jones, a London Trinity Graduate, began playing as a straight-up jazz nut before exploring blues/honky tonk and then mellowing into a general all-rounder. Oli has played in a great number of different groups and has lent his chops to many a recording session for Pop/Blues/Jazz artists alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Appearing at No.10 Downing St was a highlight!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We love old-time Jazz/Blues plus the great Soul singers of the 60's/70's! We love any contemporary music that channels these influences in new and exciting ways.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We've been gigging since we moved to London as fresh-faced 18 year olds. Since then we've played all over the country, Europe & beyond. We've done hundreds of gigs from Weddings, Parties, Bars, Pubs, Clubs, Marriage Proposals, Funerals, Wakes - if it's there to be played, we've done it!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

When the sun's shining, nothing beats a garden party. Anytime you can get people together outside with some food, drink & live music - it doesn't get much better than that.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Set up requires 30/45 minutes
Our set's generally last 45 minutes to an hour, with any multiples of.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as there is shelter from any elements and an even surface to set-up on.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We are always happy to be guided on Set List. Generally, we ask for a few favourites from our repertoire and can tailor a set-list to suit, but we are more than happy to let the client take as many requests as they like from my song list (available via our profile).

Requests - I am always happy to learn special requests when time allows, but this must be arranged before-hand and special conditions may apply (though I don't usually charge!).

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Laid-back and soulful. People always pick up on our chemistry and seem to love our selection of tunes!
