"Choosing musicians for a smaller, more intimate wedding is harder than you might imagine. You want something upbeat but not excessively so, something that will add depth and eloquence without overwhelming everything else you do, and something distinctive and a little bit alternative, so that your guests will remember *this* particular wedding, rather than all the other weddings they've attended. For us, Swing Train was absolutely perfect on all these counts. After flipping through dozens of promotional videos for different bands, looking at smooth Jazz, classic Jazz, Swing and pure Acoustic and Folk, we quickly realised that very little fitted what we wanted. Brass and sax were just too pushy; the Folk was usually too melancholy, and for Jazz we just couldn't find the right balance of melodic accessibility and intimate originality. ST42 however was unique in striking the exact right balance of melody, musicianship, and the particular, very attractrive sonal quality of a bass, guitar and mandolin. So far as the booking itself goes, ST42 were a breeze to work with, accommodating and helpful with great communication. They like to do 2x or 3x 45 minute sets, but were happy to accommodate our preference for 4x 30 minute sets instead, so that we could have music to accompany all the important parts of the wedding. We also asked if they could manage several off-repetoire songs, some of which were in a similar style (Paolo Conte), but one of which was totally leftfield (Bob Marley's "Is this Love?") Needless to say, they rose to the occasion with aplomb and did a fantastic job! Andrea, Vivian and Chris are not only first class musicians; they are also really nice people, unassuming and fantastic at what they do. With ST42 you are hiring some of the best musicians in the country, at a very good price. The one thing I'd like to point out is that their online videos don't do justice to their range of ability, and they are actually even better than their videos suggest!"

"We booked Swing Train 42 for our wedding after seeing them play a local market. We are so pleased we did; they played straight after dinner which was a great way to break up the evening. Their music is catchy yet laid back, fun to watch, and ideal for getting people in the mood for dancing. The booking process was very smooth, and communication was always fast and responsive. They are a very genuine and nice bunch of people. We would highly recommend Swing Train 42 for events and would certainly book them again."

"Rose was superb: a versatile voice able to give operatic panache to Rule Britannia as well as a stylish polish to her songs of the 1940s repertoire."

"Jess, thank you so much for yesterday. You have a stunning voice, beautiful musicality and the band were fantastic. Everyone really enjoyed it (although no one more than me!) Please pass my sincere thanks onto the band. Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help your business (recommendations etc). Thanks, Alex xx"

"Swinging like a barn door in a Texas breeze, the album shows the tightness of a band that have spent many years on the road. An established favourite on the jazz and nostalgia circuit, this well respected and popular five piece have evolved a contemporary style from a mash up of genres from the early 20th century...Cool jazz guitar, bass driven swing, excellent dobro, evocative harmonica and smokey vocal tones, velvet dipped in bourbon. Material is varied and well chosen, a souvenir from stage from one of the best live jazz-lite bands on the circuit."

"Dear Jonathan, I wanted to put pen to paper to thank you and the band for an absolutely splendid performance last Saturday. The three players, whose names – I am ashamed to admit – escape me (one tends to drink a little on ones’ 50th) were fantastic. Smiling, easy going and accommodating yet thoroughly professional, they played superbly and contributed hugely to the success of the party. It was an absolute pleasure to have them around and their 1st class playing was enjoyed by all. I cannot wait to have them back another time. Merci beaucoup"

"Summer Samba were just perfect for my event - a lunch time BBQ birthday party in the garden. The whole process from making my booking with TIm to the trio turning up on the day was seamless. The music was expertly played, the singing beautiful and Tim, Ela and Matt were a delight. I'm now trying to think up another event so that I can hire them again! "

"It was a little daunting booking a band based on a few small clips on a website, but we knew straight away they were the right band for us. The Rampart Street Ramblers were amazing value for money, and really made our wedding special. They learnt our first dance for us, and we couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. Everyone commented on how wonderful and unique the band was, and the whole booking process was quick and easy. I would rebook on this site, and rebook this band without a doubt!"

"Hi, Thoroughly enjoyed the concert tonight. It was the best evening we have had for many years. You all took my wife and me down memory lane and made us feel like teenagers again. I wanted to jive but the wife felt embarrassed. Thank you for all the hard work you put in. "

"Thanks to Laura and the trio who put on a fantastic evenings entertainment for my special occasion, it is always great to get such positive feedback from all your guests about the music and specifically the amazing vocals. I highly recommend them for any event and will be using them again myself in the near future. "
