About / Biography

The Ultimate One-Man-Band.

UK-based singer/songwriter, guitarist and loop pedal artist, playing up-beat solo gigs up all over the UK and as far as Australia & NZ.

Already compared by reviewers to the likes of Bill Withers, John Martyn and Jeff Buckley, AT is one of the shining lights of the acoustic scene and a troubadour of world-class standing.
When you see him perform live, prepare yourself for an energetic and passionate vocal performance, dextrous and original acoustic playing and some dynamic loop pedal trickery for good measure.
Drawing on varied influences from a wide musical spectrum, AT's unique style splices elements of soul, nu-folk and electronica to place his powerful yet gentle, shape‐shifting voice firmly in the spotlight.
A festival favourite, AT has headlined the BBC Stage at Bristol Harbour Festival and played many other stages, including Cambridge Folk and Cheltenham Jazz Festivals. Notching up over a thousand gigs, including support slots for Stu Larsen, Roachford and Jack Savoretti.
His critically acclaimed debut album features performances from members of The Invisible, Newton Faulkner’s band, Portishead and Massive Attack.
Brand new studio album set for release later this year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Playing Brixton Academy supporting Kosheen and seeing my friends in the front row is definitely up there for memorable gigs for me!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I grew up with Jazz musician parents, so there was a lot of original modern jazz in the air.
While growing up, I enjoyed listening to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters before getting into rockier stuff (Nirvana, Rage ATM) as well as more folky albums from James Taylor, Joni, etc.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been a professional musician living mainly off of gigs for at least 15 years. I have played all over the world, including shows in New York and New Zealand.

I really enjoy what I do and feel very lucky…

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love playing at all kinds of events. For weddings, I can take care of the music for the whole day (ceremony, drinks reception, acoustic sets, upbeat floor fillers and sing-alongs with my guitar and loop pedal, followed by DJ sets with my DJ rig).

I am happy playing bars, pubs and clubs and recently played a few football stadiums!!!

I am comfortable playing to large or small crowds and can tailor my sets accordingly.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

1 hour to set up and soundcheck is a good rule of thumb for me, I have a lot of gear for one man (band).

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, happy to play outside if the conditions are appropriate (shade and coverage for equipment, safe power source, etc).

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I am very flexible and also have songs that I know will work. I’m adept at ‘playing the room’ and have a vast and ever-growing repertoire of songs.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

High energy, getting people dancing and singing along… there is a bit of humour in there and can interact with an audience if required or play as more of a background to an event…
