About / Biography

I began modern violin lessons at the age of seven in Wales, UK. I immediately knew that this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life and began my journey as a musician. I was accepted into Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London in 2009 as a Junior student. During this time I was lucky enough to be taught by Mark Knight and was awarded the first Guildhall Violin Scholarship Prize. Mark Knight was taught by a student of the great Carl Flesch. From Junior Guildhall, I went to the Royal Welsh Conservatoire in my home city of Cardiff, to begin my Bachelor of Music on modern violin. After completing year one, I went on to finish my degree at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Simon Smith. During the final year at Birmingham I went to Italy on an Erasmus exchange on baroque violin in the Bruno Maderna conservatoire. After the exchange I transferred and became a full-time student on a degree on baroque violin in the Bruno Maderna conservatoire Cesena, Italy, with Luca Giardini, where I also received tuition on the harpsichord with Carmen Leoni and Roberta Pari. In my spare time I also enjoy composing. I have been composing since I was 7 years old. I also play the piano and am very active on YouTube as a musician.

Aside from my classical musical activities, I have a great interest in music from around the world from Mongolian throat singing to Sami joik from Scandinavia. I play jazz, klezmer, rock and some pop. I am very keen on fitness and health. I also have a keen interest in music technology. I was in charge of lighting in a 2019 production of Verdi’s La Traviata. I have been teaching violin, viola, piano and the italian language regularly since 2024. In total, I have had dozens of students over the years. In January of 2025 I took part in a charity concert in support of Ukraine. Recently in late 2025 I performed in a concert put on by Camanae de Cymru in which I performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Vivaldi’s Winter. In 2026, I have began and now run a monthly classical evening showcase. I performed in an outdoor concert in support of Ukraine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have performed Vivaldi as the soloist at St Martin In The Fields. It was a fantastic event and one which I'll never forget. I've also lead an orchestra playing at The Barbican in London.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I don't have a favourite artist but I have been influenced heavily by Nigel Kennedy, Fabio Biondi, Freddie Mercury and more. Vivaldi, violin versions of opera arias such as Nessun Dorma, Beatles numbers, Queen songs and fast and danceable Klezmer music are always crowd pleasers and I do a mix of this music and so much more, including jazz, rock, Eric Clapton, the expected classical and so much more again.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

As you can read in my description, I have performed extensively all the way through Wales, London, Southern England, France, Portugal, Italy and Austria. Over the years, I have performed at hundreds and hundreds of events ranging from all-classical/baroque specialist events to weddings, parties, private functions and funerals.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I don't have a favourite. I just love performing. Whether it's for someone in their living room or if it's in a packed arena, a show is a show and I love performing and giving it everything I've got to spread joy and music.

What sort of events do you play at?

Short answer: all of them.

I not only do the expected standard all-evening concerts. I do any and all other kinds of events too, from welcoming guests at a drinks reception to providing featured performances during an awards dinner, I will help help set the tone and create a memorable experience. The events I play at are numerous, such as:
Weddings and wedding receptions
Drinks receptions
Corporate dinners and business events
Awards ceremonies
Charity galas and fundraising events
Community events
Private celebrations

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

It depends on the show/concert: It is just me with my violin and PA system. Arrival times depend on a plethora of different factors but generally I aim to arrive at the venue 1-2 hours before the show start-time. The performance times depend on the music I'm playing and the kind of event it is. Some events have been 2 to 3 hours and others have lasted from the afternoon to gone-midnight.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I can play and learn anything that they want. And the music itself can be 5 pieces/songs worth to upward of 5 hours worth and more.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

They have told me that I made the event/concert extra special with 'incredible music and performance'. I have been approached after performing and have been told that 'it was truly a privilege to hear you perform. Thank you so much on behalf of all of us, you're a legend.'

Do you have a set list or can I choose the music?

You can choose what music you want and I'll learn it. It can be any music you like, however obscure or famous.
Or, you can also ask me to come up with a list by myself, based on a prompt from you or you can let me choose by myself. I'm perfectly happy to do either!
