About / Biography

Born in Wales and of Italian heritage, it was maybe predictable to begin studying modern violin at the age of 7 in Wales, and end on Baroque violin in Italy. Obviously being Welsh-Italian, music has always been a part of my life, but soon became everything.

It was an exciting time to be accepted as a student into Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London as a Junior student. During this time I was lucky enough to be taught by Mark Knight and was awarded the first ever Guildhall Violin Scholarship Prize.

I began a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff and after the first year and a gap year went on to finish at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Simon Smith. Following an Erasmus exchange I continued to study baroque violin in Italy. Hence, Italian being my second language.

Back home in Wales, I am now freelance, and as well as performing at events and concerts, am now a member of Camanae de Cymru for whom I have performed Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. I have performed at diverse events from funerals to birthdays and weddings.

I have also been teaching violin, viola, piano and the Italian language and now run a monthly classical evening showcase.

In my spare time I enjoy composing, playing viola, harpsichord, health and fitness, piano and martial arts. I have also helped raise money for local charities and play for local and international support groups. My most recent venture has been to run the aforementioned monthly classical evening showcase.

Aside from my classical music, I have a great interest in music from around the world from Klezmer, Mongolian throat singing to Sami Joik from Scandinavia and play most genres, including jazz, klezmer, blue grass, rock and pop and enjoy them all and have performed many of them in a range of diverse events, from birthdays, weddings and funerals.

Please do not hesitate to contact for a unique musical program to suit your event.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have performed Vivaldi as the soloist at St Martin In The Fields. It was a fantastic event and one which I'll never forget. I've also lead an orchestra playing at The Barbican in London.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I don't have a favourite artist but I have been influenced heavily by Nigel Kennedy, Fabio Biondi, Freddie Mercury and more. Vivaldi, violin versions of opera arias such as Nessun Dorma, Beatles numbers, Queen songs and fast and danceable Klezmer music are always crowd pleasers and I do a mix of this music and so much more, including jazz, rock, Eric Clapton, the expected classical and so much more again.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

As you can read in my description, I have performed extensively all the way through Wales, London, Southern England, France, Portugal, Italy and Austria. Over the years, I have performed at hundreds and hundreds of events ranging from all-classical/baroque specialist events to weddings, parties, private functions and funerals.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I don't have a favourite. I just love performing. Whether it's for someone in their living room or if it's in a packed arena, a show is a show and I love performing and giving it everything I've got to spread joy and music.

What sort of events do you play at?

Short answer: all of them.

I not only do the expected standard all-evening concerts. I do any and all other kinds of events too, from welcoming guests at a drinks reception to providing featured performances during an awards dinner, I will help help set the tone and create a memorable experience. The events I play at are numerous, such as:
Weddings and wedding receptions
Drinks receptions
Corporate dinners and business events
Awards ceremonies
Charity galas and fundraising events
Community events
Private celebrations

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

It depends on the show/concert: It is just me with my violin and PA system. Arrival times depend on a plethora of different factors but generally I aim to arrive at the venue 1-2 hours before the show start-time. The performance times depend on the music I'm playing and the kind of event it is. Some events have been 2 to 3 hours and others have lasted from the afternoon to gone-midnight.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I can play and learn anything that they want. And the music itself can be 5 pieces/songs worth to upward of 5 hours worth and more.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

They have told me that I made the event/concert extra special with 'incredible music and performance'. I have been approached after performing and have been told that 'it was truly a privilege to hear you perform. Thank you so much on behalf of all of us, you're a legend.'

Do you have a set list or can I choose the music?

You can choose what music you want and I'll learn it. It can be any music you like, however obscure or famous.
Or, you can also ask me to come up with a list by myself, based on a prompt from you or you can let me choose by myself. I'm perfectly happy to do either!
