Danny Brab is a Manchester-born singer and acoustic guitarist based in Staffordshire.
Danny honed his craft as a teenage busker performing in Bury Market subway and on Manchester’s Market Street. He then jumped on a ship to Belgium where he spent the next nine months entertaining the crowds daily outside Antwerp’s historic cathedral.
In a music career spanning 25 years, he has shared the bill with the likes of Liam Fray (Courteeners), The Slow Readers Club, The Wombats and The Bluetones. He once played on a major tour date supporting John Peel’s favourite band, The Fall.
Danny has also performed twice at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club, on one occasion supporting Tony Wright from Terrorvision.
While an undergraduate at Manchester University he won a MBF National Songwriting Award in 2005 for ‘Welcome to Nowhere’ and ‘She’s Taken Everything’.
As a co-founder of post punk trio Optional Wallace, Danny wrote 'Generation' which was chosen as BBC Radio 6 Music’s Single of the Week, with the show’s host Steve Lamacq telling his audience: “It’s brilliant! Listen to it.”
Following a long break to pursue his day job, Danny is now back on the music scene and picking up more rave reviews for his performances as a covers artist.

Ideally need 5m x 3m for full 2 speaker 2200 PA and lights, can set up in smaller with one speaker. 2 x 13 amp power sockets and a parking space please.
I am completely self contained. I will bring a full PA system and simple lighting rig.
I will need to know if the venue is indoor or outdoor (with sufficient cover).
Yes can play a playlist between sets. Please provide a list of tracks, or I will provide if preferred.
Academy 1, Manchester supporting the Fall and Milton Keynes National Bowl
Beatles, David Bowie, Oasis, Pixies, Radiohead, Blur but too many to mention. Life on Mars by David Bowie is a masterpiece.
I started as a teenage street busker. I’ve performed hundreds of times since then.
A cosy venue/bar, comfortably full with an interactive crowd is generally my favourite type of gig, but really I just like performing.
Normally arrive an hour before to set up. Usually 2 x 45 minutes, but can do longer. 3 x 45 is preferred maximum.
Happy to play outside but with sufficient cover in case of poor weather. Flat level surface and power supply close to performance area.
Can learn specific songs if given sufficient notice. I have a repertoire of around 200 songs with full lyrics and I do not use prompts or sheet music.
5 star. Please see my Facebook page for specific reviews (Danny Brab - Music).
