Yes, we’re completely self-contained. We bring our own full PA system to all our gigs for events up to 150-200 people – weddings, salsa nights, birthdays, and smaller functions. The system is professional grade and perfect for those capacities.

For larger events with 300+ people, festivals, carnivals, or outdoor stages, we usually connect to the venue’s in-house PA system to ensure the best sound coverage. If the venue doesn’t have a PA, we can arrange to hire in a larger system for an additional cost.

Regarding lighting: we bring basic stage lighting for our performance. For full production lighting or special effects, we recommend using a dedicated lighting company or the venue’s system.

My biggest influences are the legends who built salsa: *Héctor Lavoe* for his street poetry and pain in every note, *Celia Cruz* for her power and joy that filled stadiums, *Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz* for their musical genius and how they mixed jazz with barrio, and *Marc Anthony* for showing the world that salsa belongs on the biggest stages.

If I had to pick one favourite, it’s *Héctor Lavoe*. _El Cantante_ wasn’t just a singer – he was the voice of the people. Nobody told a story like him.

Greatest song of all time? Impossible to choose one, but if you put a gun to my head: *'El Cantante' by Héctor Lavoe*. It has everything – the struggle, the glory, the music, and the truth. That song is salsa."

My journey started back in school, playing in a small band with my friends. That’s where I fell in love with live music and learned how to connect with a crowd.

Before forming The Mambo Kings, I gained solid experience working as a musician for the band *Star Friend*. Playing with them taught me discipline, stagecraft, and what it takes to deliver a professional show night after night.

All of that experience is what I bring to July Julay & The Mambo Kings today – the hunger of that school band, plus the professionalism of years on the road."
