Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We require minimal setup space (approx. 2m x 2m per dhol player) and safe access to the performance area. As dhol is a live acoustic instrument, no power supply is required for standard performances.
For larger events or DJ + dhol sets, coordination with the DJ or sound provider is helpful. Parking nearby and a small waiting area are appreciated.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

For traditional dhol performances, no sound system is required as dhol is naturally loud and designed for live events.
For DJ + dhol fusion sets, we work alongside your DJ or can help arrange full DJ, sound and lighting packages if required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

One of our standout performances was at the Tower of London, where we performed for a prestigious corporate law firm event. It was an incredible experience bringing high-energy dhol performances to such an iconic and historic venue.

We’ve also had the privilege of performing for major global brands and organisations including Google, NHS, CNBC and Pepsi, delivering high-impact entertainment for both corporate events and luxury weddings across the UK.

From iconic venues to packed wedding celebrations, we specialise in creating unforgettable moments β€” whether it’s a powerful baraat entrance, a grand reception walk-in or a high-energy dhol & DJ set that keeps the dancefloor alive.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Our style is heavily influenced by traditional Punjabi dhol rhythms combined with modern Bhangra, Bollywood and commercial music. We draw inspiration from iconic Punjabi artists and producers who have shaped the global sound of Bhangra.
Rather than one song, we focus on creating powerful live moments β€” whether it’s a classic Punjabi beat for a baraat or remixing popular tracks with live dhol to get everyone on the dancefloor.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

The Dhol Players were built from a passion for Punjabi culture, live music and creating unforgettable event experiences. With over 10 years of experience, we have performed at hundreds of weddings, receptions, mehndis, sangeets and corporate events across the UK.
We started by performing at local events and quickly grew through word-of-mouth, strong reputation and consistent high-energy performances β€” now becoming a trusted name for Indian wedding entertainment and dhol drummers nationwide and internationally

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Our favourite events to perform at are luxury weddings and high-end celebrations, where every detail matters and the atmosphere is truly unforgettable. From elegant baraat entrances and grand reception walk-ins to refined, high-energy dhol & DJ fusion sets, we specialise in creating standout moments that elevate the entire event experience.

That said, we pride ourselves on delivering the same premium standard across all events β€” including corporate functions, private parties and cultural festivals. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a large-scale production, The Dhol Players bring professionalism, presence and exceptional energy every time.

What makes The Dhol Players different from other dhol performers?

We focus on high-energy, professional performances that create real impact. From perfectly timed entrances to crowd interaction and DJ fusion sets, we don’t just play dhol β€” we create moments. Our experience with luxury weddings and corporate clients ensures a polished, reliable and unforgettable performance every time.

Can you perform alongside a DJ or other entertainment?

Yes, we specialise in DJ & dhol fusion. We regularly perform alongside DJs, coordinating timings and drops to create a powerful live experience. Whether it’s a wedding reception or corporate event, we work seamlessly with your DJ to keep the energy high.

Do you travel outside of London?

Absolutely β€” we are London-based but perform nationwide across the UK. We regularly travel to venues in Birmingham, Essex, Surrey and beyond. Travel is always planned professionally to ensure we arrive on time and ready to perform.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive 30–45 minutes before the performance time to coordinate with the DJ/venue and be fully ready. Performances are usually high-energy sets (15–30 minutes) for key moments such as baraat entrances, bride & groom entrances or dancefloor sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we regularly perform outdoors for baraats, entrances and cultural events. We simply require a safe, flat surface and suitable weather conditions. Covered areas are preferred if the weather is unpredictable.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Absolutely β€” we tailor every performance to you. Clients can request specific songs, entrance timings and styles, and we work closely with your DJ or planner to ensure everything flows perfectly.
We also bring our expertise to create the best energy, blending Punjabi, Bhangra, Bollywood and even English music on dhol.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients consistently describe our performances as high-energy, powerful and unforgettable. We’re known for creating electric atmospheres, getting guests involved instantly and turning key moments like baraat entrances and dancefloor sets into highlights of the event.

Many clients highlight our professionalism, timing and crowd interaction, as well as our ability to work seamlessly with DJs and planners. Overall, we’re often described as the moment that sets the tone for the entire celebration.
