Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For solo trumpet performances, I generally require a suitable performance space and, where amplification is required, access to a suitable PA system.

For trumpet with backing tracks, a PA system or suitable sound system with an input for a laptop/phone is required.

For piano performances, a suitable acoustic piano or keyboard is preferred. I can provide a portable keyboard by prior arrangement, subject to an additional equipment and transport fee.

A standard electrical socket should be available where amplified equipment or a portable keyboard is being used.

Specific technical requirements can be discussed and agreed with the client before the booking.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I can provide basic sound equipment for smaller performances where required, including suitable amplification for trumpet or backing tracks. Portable keyboard equipment can also be provided for piano performances by prior arrangement.

I do not currently provide professional event lighting or large-scale PA systems. Larger sound and lighting requirements can be arranged with the venue or event organiser.

What information do you require about a venue?

Please provide the venue name and address, performance area, expected audience size, performance date and timings, and whether the venue has a suitable piano or PA system available.

For piano bookings, please confirm whether a suitable acoustic piano or keyboard is available. If not, I can provide a portable keyboard by prior arrangement, subject to an additional transport/equipment fee.

Please also let me know about parking, loading/access arrangements and any specific technical requirements where relevant.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide curated Spotify/background music before and between live sets, tailored to the style and atmosphere of your event.

Can you provide you own equipment?

For trumpet performances, I can provide basic equipment where required. For piano bookings, a venue piano is preferred, but I can provide a portable keyboard by prior arrangement for an additional equipment and transport fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

One of the most memorable gigs I’ve performed was at the Interceltique Festival in Lorient, France, where I performed as part of a large-scale festival programme and even appeared on French television. It was an incredible experience performing to a large international audience in such a lively festival atmosphere.

The best venue I’ve played at is the Royal Albert Hall in London. Performing in such an iconic venue is something I’ll always remember, and it was a particularly special experience as a musician.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I’ve been influenced by a lot of jazz musicians, particularly Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Louis Armstrong, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson. I love musicians who have individuality and a distinctive sound.

My favourite artist would probably be Miles Davis, whose playing and approach to music have had a huge influence on me.

As for the greatest song of all time, I’d choose “My funny valentine” a timeless melody that has been interpreted in so many different ways, and one that I never get tired of hearing or playing.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging as a young trumpet player, performing in ensembles, concerts and community events before progressing into more professional performance opportunities. Over the years I’ve gained experience performing across jazz, classical and popular styles, both as a soloist and as part of ensembles.

I went on to study jazz trumpet at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where I developed my versatility as a performer and gained extensive experience playing live. During this time I performed at concerts, festivals and events, including the Interceltique Festival in France, where I also appeared on French television.

Since graduating, I’ve continued performing professionally at weddings, private events, corporate functions, concerts and venues, including the Royal Albert Hall. I’ve also developed my work as a pianist, performing both solo piano and as part of a piano and vocal duo.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

My favourite events are weddings, private parties and elegant corporate events where live music can really contribute to the atmosphere. I particularly enjoy events where I can interact with the audience and adapt the music to suit the occasion, whether that means providing relaxed background jazz, performing familiar popular songs or taking a more prominent role during the event.

I also love performing at festivals and concerts, but there’s something particularly rewarding about playing at a private event and helping to create a memorable experience for the guests.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I usually aim to arrive around 30–45 minutes before the performance to allow plenty of time for setup, sound checks and preparation.

For solo trumpet performances, setup is generally very quick. Piano performances may require a little longer if I am providing a portable keyboard and equipment.

Typical performance time is around 2 hours so 2 x 50 minute sets. Exact timings can be agreed with the client in advance. I'm happy to perform for longer as well if required!

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am happy to perform outside provided that the weather is nice and not too rainy, as I need to protect my keyboard and equipment as much as possible. Also I would require a power supply for my equipment.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes, we do accept requests, however I would need to be informed in advance so I have time to practice/ prepare.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients have described my performances as professional, versatile and engaging. I’m often told that I have a warm, expressive sound and that I’m able to create the right atmosphere for the occasion, whether providing relaxed background music or a more energetic performance.

Clients also appreciate my friendly and reliable approach, as well as my ability to adapt the repertoire and style to suit different events and audiences.

can you perform song requests?

Yes. I’m happy to discuss song requests in advance and will do my best to accommodate them where possible.

How long can you perform for?

typically perform for 1 - 2 hours, usually divided into multiple sets with appropriate breaks. I can however perform for 4 hours, however that will be at a higher price.

Can you perform outside?

Yes, subject to suitable weather conditions and adequate protection for the musician and equipment.

Can you provide background music before and between sets?

Yes. I can provide curated Spotify/background music before and between live sets, tailored to the style and atmosphere of your event.

Can you perform at weddings and cooperate events?

Absolutely. I regularly perform across weddings, private events, corporate functions, concerts and other special occasions, and can tailor the repertoire and performance style to suit the event.
