Scottish singer and harpist originally from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Now based in the southeast of England in the thriving city of Chelmsford, Essex.
Kathleen grew up immersed in rich native Gaelic and Highland culture and after studying music for 4 years, in 2003 she graduated from the Royal conservatoire of music (formally known as the RSAMD) with a BA Hons in Scottish Music.
Since graduating Kathleen has gigged, recorded, and toured throughout the world with various artists including lead vocals and Clarsach for septet Brolum, producing the CD “The Fair Face I Never Saw.”
Kathleen sings in both Gaelic and English and plays the Scottish harp (clarsach) which is a very portable thirty-four string lever harp, allowing her to play anywhere.
Kathleen has a wide repertoire of music to choose from, from Celtic/folk music from Scotland and Ireland, popular love songs, classical, jazz and hymns and psalms for religious ceremonies. She can sing in English and her native Scottish tongue, Gaelic. There is something for everyone.
As well as performing she enjoys teaching Voice, harp and Groupwork to Children and adults.
Based in Chelmsford, Essex
= areas covered (up to 500 miles)
I will require a low chair without arms (or can bring my own stool). I can play outdoors as long as there is cover for when it rains or when it is very hot. My harp is vey portable so I can play almost anywhere.
Not currently but this can be hired additionally if required.
Where I can park as close to the venue as possible. Whether there is somewhere I can store the harp case.
I have played all over the world at big festivals to intimate and private occasions. Each event and gig brings its own special magic!
This varies and is reflected in my repertoire. I come from a Gaelic/traditional and folk background but love country and Jazz musicians too!
I have been gigging from an early age and started out going along as a child with my mother to her gigs locally. I am from a family of musicians and it was a natural progression to then perform professionally.
I honestly love the variety and really enjoy sharing something special with a crowd to an intimate celebration.
I will arrive 45 mins - 1hr before performance time to set up.
Performance times vary depending on what is required. For corporate events and drinks receptions I will play for a minimum of 1hr.
For weddings I can play for your ceremony or drinks reception or both.
Yes, I love performing outside provided there is shelter from any rain or very strong sun. If it is too cold and I am playing the harp, my fingers may not move for too long!
I have a large repertoire of songs from traditional Scottish and Irish folk music to well known love songs and hymns. I am always happy to learn something new and this is at an extra expense for my time.
"She has the ability to transport you on an emotional and beautiful journey through song and music."
She is steeped in Gaelic culture but also has a deep, soulful character in her voice that is so natural and not something that can be taught or learned.
she is a thoughtful and careful musician and brings honesty, reliability and a fun approach to whatever she does."
