About / Biography

A very happy New Year to all from the guys. We had a great New Year's Eve gig at The Wheatsheaf Dunstable.
Midnight Sun is made up of very experienced musicians whose mission is to play great songs that audiences will love and react to. Our repertoire is constantly being shaped to give your punters and guests a great time. We are a 5-piece, Lead Vocals, Michael, Drums, Ric, Lead/Rhythm Guitars, Gary and Steve, and Bass, Joe. We bring our own lights, PA and other equipment. We just need a mains socket! Our repertoire is very varied to suit all audiences, and we play at a volume that is comfortable for the audience.

It's been a great first year for us with around 30 venues and gigs played. We are delighted to have been given several repeating gigs at venues next year, and to have a number of new venues booked for 2026. We are especially pleased to be 90% booked up for 2026. But we do have a few gaps, so please enquire.

Our next public gig is at The Rose, Biggleswade, on January 10th, a great friendly music venue. Come along why don't you? Or come along to Russell Park Social Club, Bedford, on January 31st, (admission £3.00 only).

We have some video from our last visit to The Rose that we have put up here. It's live, noisy and a bit mad, and not stunning quality, but worth a look we think. Other videos are from earlier gigs. We are:
Also on Last Minute Musicians.. Midnight Sun

The seven audio tracks are from recent gigs. These are NOT studio fiddled... They are simple, non-pro, live recordings at venues, so will give a good indication of what you actually get. The live gig was at The Round Bush in Luton. Please forgive the noisy receptive crowd, and their singing contributions. Track 7 is a montage, containing clips of around eight songs.

You will also find pictures and other useful information, including an example song list, which is constantly evolving. Please get in touch by email. We will be very happy to discuss your requirements, and are able to offer some limited discounts to venues for 'first gig' bookings. Thanks for reading.

A number of our gigs tend to be Private Parties. With rare exceptions we do not list those on Lemonrock. Please check our availability for bookings on the 'Free' tab above. Dates in green are available currently. But also always worth contacting us as things change.

We look forward to hearing from you...

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We require space for a five-piece band and a single mains socket. Parking, or at least loading facilities for five cars is highly desirable.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We are completely self contained, we bring our own PA and other sound equipment, and stage lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

We simply require an accurate address for the venue, with any special instructions that might be useful for parking and unloading. We also need to know if a sound limiter is in use at the venue, although we are not Loud!!

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

If required, we can provide background music before our sets and during breaks. That music will be varied in nature reflecting our set.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Too many to mention.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Our music is very much audience centred. We play songs that have proven popular with all kinds of audiences. This is different from bands who primarily play music they like. We love a wide range of music, but classic bands like The Eagles, Dire Straits, Stereophonics and Queen we find are always popular.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Midnight Sun is a coming together around a year ago of experienced band musicians disenchanted with bands who centre their sets on songs they happen to like, which so often left audiences unimpressed.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at vibrant music pubs, social clubs with good music audiences, and certainly Private Parties where the age range and musical tastes are wide.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically like to arrive about 90 minutes or more before the start time. We are happy to play two or three sets as required, and typically would expect an actual total performance time of up to two and a half hours. Three 45 minute sets are typical. But we are happy to accommodate different requirements too.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We can and do play outside, provided a suitable flat space with roof cover from the elements is available, and obviously with a convenient power supply.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We normally will play proven sets that are most likely to suit the audience, but we are always happy with suitable notice to try and accommodate special requests. Client input in choosing from our set is also an option.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients like that we play songs they know and like, enjoy the wide range of genres and are always very appreciative.
