About / Biography

Played and sung in bands and duos since 1999, but started practicing long before that! Initially originals, but soon realised that if I was going to sing other people's songs, it might as well be ones that audiences recognise and love.

Currently leading a Police tribute (played on main stage at Replika 2026) but also love loads of other stuff - my ideal gig would be a combination of Police, Men at Work, Sting and Colin Hay. I even thought of a name for it ("Policemen at Work"), but so far I've yet to find an audience. Oh well! It'll happen one day.

Love playing with live musicians but equally happy singing and playing solo with backing tracks. My "happy place" is late 70s to mid-80s, but let's face it, there's been great music happening all the time.
I'm sorry to say I don't have any solo performance footage (yet!) but please feel free to take a quick look, for a general idea of what I'm about.

Thanks!

Solo shows include:
Policeman at Work
80s / New Wave Throwback
Soul Cages Acoustic Concert
Phil's Musical Attic Clearance

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Very few requirements or restrictions, I can set up and play pretty much anywhere! Just give me a couple of square metres of floor space and a power outlet, and I'm sorted. :)

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I supply my own PA, but no lighting gear at the moment.

What information do you require about a venue?

Parking / load-in details are always helpful, please.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can certainly provide background / DJ music before, during and / or after my sets. Happy to discuss the overall vibe and specific content.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The best gig I ever played was my very first, at a bar called LoveSexy in Hoboken, New Jersey. I stepped outside afterwards and saw New York City lit up against the night sky. Just magical.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I'm the frontman of a Police tribute band, so I suppose I'd have to acknowledge Sting as a big influence. However my favourite artist is Colin Hay, formerly of Men at Work and latterly an awesome solo artist (and genuinely nice guy).
The greatest song of all time? The best concert I ever saw was Prince, so from my hugely biased perspective I'd have to say Purple Rain.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been playing in bands and duos for 25+ years, intially playing original material and later succumbing to the commercial good sense of covers. Currently I'm fronting a Police tribute, with whom I played the main stage on the final day of Replika Festival 2026.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Having led my band on a festival main stage, as well as playing in bistros / coffee bars to audiences small enough to count on the fingers of one hand... I can honestly say I don't have a preference. As long as people don't come up to ask for Limp Bizkit. :D

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

With a fairly compact stage setup, I can be ready to go within a few minutes. Totally flexible with performance times, normally it would be 2 x 45 minutes but very much open to discussion.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I can certainly perform outside, as long as there's a power supply, and cover in case of bad weather.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a half-ton of songs in my back pocket, but more than happy to negotiate with clients over specific song requests.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Audiences at my tribute band's shows usually use words like "absolutely spot-on" :)
