From our daughter Kerri that got married at Loch Garten on Saturday the 7th August. - Spud was arranged as a surprise fo our wedding - and he really made the day ! Not only was he absolutely smashing banter in the nervous "before it's all go" moments, he was also the only one present to support my last moment run to the bathroom (in the forest) before heading up the aisle! (in the forest by Loch Garten) . His fab playing added a real air of atmosphere and ceremony to our outdoor, lochside wedding that it wouldn't have otherwise had - and he was a major hit with all the guests. From the Brides parents - We had an amazing day with Spud. He obviously has done many weddings but at least ,it was a first for him for a change, when the bride insisted on going to the bathroom in the woods before they set off. ... He was called in at the last moment as a surprise from us to our daughter and we are very glad he had a cancellation and could do ours. I could go on for ever about how good he is so I won't. What I will say is this, if you don't have him at your wedding you are a fool. He is a very nice man and you have the added bonus that he is a superb piper, the rest speaks for itself. I have used Pipers on numerous occasions and know a good one when I hear one.......SPUD is in a league of his own.
He turned out, immaculate in full uniform, at 7.30 am for a Family Birthday surprise. Brief instructions then he just went with the flow.
Job done he relaxed with my Family and Friends over a cup of coffee and we were all pleased how he blended with us.
I can't speak highly enough of SPUD , he certainly can 'Pipe a few Tunes'.
A pleasant , well mannered, person that will do you proud.

Spud's father piped at my parents wedding and it was only appropriate that Spud continue the tradition and pipe at our wedding. We left it to Spud to select what tunes he played and we’re so pleased we did. Spud created a wonderful atmosphere at our wedding and delighted us and our local and international guests with his piping on the day. The highlight for me was when Spud piped me down the aisle and the highlight for our guests was his magnificent wedding toast. He is a consummate professional, a lovely chap and highly recommended for any event.

You need to get this guy along to your event/wedding, great fun, cheery smile, he just gets everyone smiling - and he can play, what else do you need from a piper. He obviously loves his job, and his infectious smile means he gets in all the photos..... He absolutely will be talked about afterwards for all the right reasons. Great time keeper, always well turned out, great to deal with, always happy guests after his visit - believe me I've seen it hundreds of times.

What a character and a lovely man! Had the privilege of meeting spud at a friends wedding and can’t recommend him enough. As soon as that first note came out I had chills down my spine. Spud brings everything you need to every occasion. He is an excellent musician and a larger than life personality. As our Hotel Piper he represents us all during the Summer and he brings traditional Scottish charm and class to all gatherings. He is more than a Piper he is a musical force of nature with heart of solid gold and I am proud to have him as a true friend.

I hired Spud to pipe open my Tavern. He flew over to Virginia in March but unfortunately we weren’t ready to open. Instead of sitting in his cabin enjoying his holiday, he chose to pipe for me at our local churches and schools. My community benefited from my poor planning! I have to say my family benefited too. There’s nothing like hearing the bagpipes coming from your cabin, surrounded by the mountains, it was beautiful.

I hope he’ll make it back to Virginia soon!

Calum is a gentleman. Such a pro, does exactly whats asked and more. On time, very well presented and delivers total quality. My go to piper. First met him during a lunchtime pint at Madonnas wedding in Dornoch, and been THE man ever since.

My family traveled from the U.S. to Inverness recently, among a few other stops, hoping to visit some ancestral sites specific to our family lines. I was having trouble finding a tour guide, and the idea hit me to see if I could find a local Piper...thought even better if they were a Fraser like me....literally contacted Spud at the last minute, and he was happy to oblige. Far exceeded our expectations!!! I told him to feel free to come casually dressed on such short notice....his Highland attire was incredible! And his musicianship was outstanding...in America we would say this guy has some "serious chops"! Graced us with several wonderful tunes, and was as charming and witty as all of the other reviews mentioned. He is first class all the way!!! He turned an occasion into an event. He made our experience feel epic. You instantly feel like a friend to Spud when you meet him. And he was full of hilarious stories and quips. If you're a "yankee" and need a Piper in America or the other side of the pond....do yourself a favor and contact Spud....you will not be disappointed, and he will add so much class and fun to whatever you have going on!!!! Cannot say enough good things about this guy...a consummate professional and such a winsome and personable fellow.

Hired this guy to pipe for us during our boys skiing holiday. Fantastic piper. Lovely guy with a great sense of humour. Very accommodating and the crowds loved him on tbe slopes. Spud has the personal touch that sets him apart from other pipers. Will definitely be using him again whatever the occasion.

Spud made our wedding into the fairytale it was! So much so, we still keep in touch!! His skills coupled with his sense of humor makes him one of a kind! I swear Spud, if you don’t come drinking with us in 2020 (when we come back to Scotland for our 3 year), then I’m deleting this review and writing you a bad one! Hahahaha

I have worked with Spud on many occasions over the years, most recently at the North Hop Festival in Aberdeen where Spud piped festival goers in to the venue and also opened and closed the festival. His piping is first-class, he looks impeccable and his easy-going humour and manner with people makes him an ideal addition to any type of event. You’ll have a hard time dragging him away from your guests - everyone wants a Spud Selfie! I can highly recommend him - Spud adds a touch of class and fun to proceedings every time. Ten out of ten.

Spud piped at my wedding at Urquhart Castle. I had a specific song in mind which many other pipers couldn't play as its usually played on ulian pipes. Spud sent me a video of him playing my song on bagpipes and I was sold. It's a huge aisle at Urquhart so he done well to play the wedding party down it. He was also great for getting his pics taken. He's in many of mine with the wedding party. Great piper. Great guy. Would highly recommend!

Spud is simply the best! Such a great guy and an amazing, versatile, authentic and truly gifted piper! He brings such energy and great vibes to audiences of all sizes. His costume is brilliant too! There is only ever one guy for the job of piper and that’s Mr Spud! Not only because the sound is always spot on but Spud is very professional and knows the industry and what is required. To top it off, he has a cheeky personality and is always up for a laugh!

Spud came to my work place, The Craigellachie Hotel, to pipe for a large group of Portugese guests as part of a traditional Scottish dinner and they loved it!! They all asked about him the following morning and we spoke about how i had known him for several years, through other events and family, and he was the best in the industry. He never fails to bring a crowd together (even when there are language barriers!) and it’s always a pleasure having him and listening to him do what he does best! Safe to say we’ll be seeing him again soon! X
