I just need a suitable space to perform, access to a standard power socket nearby and somewhere reasonably close to park for loading in and out. For outdoor performances, I require a covered and weather protected performance area.
Yes, I’m fully self contained and bring my own professional PA system, microphone and all equipment needed for my performance. I don’t usually require any additional sound equipment from the venue.
It’s helpful to know where I’ll be performing, the nearest access point for loading in, parking arrangements and whether the venue has any sound restrictions. For outdoor events, I’ll also need to know what covered performance space is provided.
No.
One of my favourite gigs was performing on the main stage at Sidmouth Jazz & Blues Festival supporting Gabrielle. I've also had the chance to play some brilliant festivals and venues around the UK, including Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Boardmasters.
I've always been drawn to soulful, distinctive voices and great songwriting, with influences ranging from Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder to Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae and Norah Jones. Choosing the greatest song of all time might be impossible, though!
I've been performing professionally for many years, playing everything from intimate weddings, hotels and private events to major UK festivals. Alongside performing covers, I release original music as Rue, which has led to performances at festivals including Cheltenham Jazz Festival and The Great Escape, as well as support from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 3 and Jazz FM.
I particularly enjoy playing afternoon wedding receptions and creating a lovely, relaxed atmosphere while everyone chats and celebrates. I love all sorts of gigs though, from festivals to more intimate, laid back shows.
I usually allow around 60 minutes to set up and soundcheck before performing, although this can sometimes be longer depending on the venue and event. My most common format is 2 x 45 minute sets with a break in between, although set times can be tailored to suit the event.
Yes, I’m very happy to perform outside and love to! I just require a flat, dry and covered performance area with access to a suitable power supply nearby. As my equipment is electrical, suitable cover from the weather is essential.
I have an established repertoire that I perform from, but I’m always happy to take on board the kind of music and atmosphere a client is looking for and tailor my set accordingly. For weddings, I can also learn a specific song for the ceremony if arranged in advance.
Warm, soulful and relaxed. I’m often booked to create an easy going atmosphere where the music adds something special to the occasion without overpowering it, with a mix of familiar favourites and a few more unexpected song choices.
