After leaving university, Sherika committed fully to her music, putting her faith and determination to the test by becoming a full-time busker. Her soulful sound and commanding presence quickly set her apart, establishing her as a respected and in-demand performer on the London music scene.
Regularly invited to perform at some of the capital’s most prestigious venues, including Ronnie Scott’s, Jazz Café, Shoreditch House and The Century Club, Sherika has also taken her music internationally, with bookings in destinations such as The Seychelles, Senegal and Norway.
Her profile rose further following a surprise moment on London’s Southbank, when British soul icon Seal joined her mid-busking session for two impromptu duets. Impressed, he went on to invite Sherika to open two of his shows at the Old Royal Naval College in London and Cirque Royal in Brussels.
More recently, legendary film director Spike Lee personally selected Sherika’s original song We Don’t Need a Reason to feature in his Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, further cementing her reputation as a standout contemporary soul artist.
