“The Big Swing Band!” is an 18-piece jazz orchestra based in London, dedicated to delivering the classic sounds of the swing era with energy and authenticity. Playing the repertoire of Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington and many more, we bring the golden era of big band to life for concerts, weddings, corporate events, swing dances, private parties and more! Whether you're looking for a smooth backdrop or a high-energy dance experience, we provide the perfect soundtrack for any occasion. The band is fronted by critically acclaimed vocalist Elijah. A musician known not only for his smooth crooner style but also for his versatility across all genres of music. Elijah plays the role of singer and frontman in our band, making sure the audience is always entertained and engaged.
George is a London-based jazz drummer and the driving force behind the Big Swing Band. Having recently graduated from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, George specialises in the swinging style of players such as Alvin Stoller, Irv Cottler, Papa Jo Jones, Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Sonny Payne and has an enduring passion for big band music from the 1940s, '50s, and ‘60s. The rest of the Big Swing Band is comprised of some of London’s most exciting young musicians, many of whom have trained at the country's top conservatoires and are already making a name for themselves on the national scene. Their collective experience spans performances at major venues, festivals, and collaborations with leading jazz artists. With a shared love for the swing repertoire, this group of exciting players brings precision, energy, and authenticity to every performance, making the Big Swing Band one of the most thrilling big bands in the country!

Yes, we bring almost everything we need! The only thing we need from you is 14 chairs.
Because of the band's size, it is often useful to be in contact with the technician of a venue. If there is no technician (for example, if we are playing in a marquee at a wedding) then we would just need to liaise with whoever is organising the day.
Yes, we can play a playlist between sets. We also have a small band option if you want only live music for your event.
In 2024 we played a fantastic swing dance event at 229 Great Portland Street. We love playing for dancers so this was definitely a highlight!
All of the members of the band are professionally trained musicians coming from the top U.K music schools (Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama etc). We offer a very authentic sounding big band. The band was brought together by George during his time at the Royal Academy of Music.
