At the age of three and a half, The Female Piper's father presented her with a chanter and it's henceforth that she has pursued a life of music. Teaching in schools over the south of England, Iona is a keen enthusiast in promoting the Great Highland Bagpipes. Many of her pupils have achieved SCQFs in bagpipe performance and theory. She has been priveleged enough to play alongside Carlos Nunez when he came to England. She also is Pipe Major of one of the Pipe Bands in the south of England. In addition to the pipes, she plays the fiddle and piano to Grade 8 standard and is self-taught the accordian, tin whistle and clarinet.
