Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Just a small space of approx 2x3 metres, with one power point. Small outside events can be accommodated with an alternative battery-powered amp.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I am completely self contained. I bring my own PA system including a classic vintage microphone. I am happy to use the venue's system if required.

What information do you require about a venue?

Directions, set up times, if there is a sound limiter, and contact info on the day.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I'm happy to play music from Spotify before or between sets. I'm happy to choose the music or let the client choose the music.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

My favourite solo gig has to be singing at the National History Museum at London Business School's annual party. There were almost 1000 guests and I got to sing on the huge staircase in Hintze Hall, surrounded by candles whilst looking out over the huge blue whale skeleton. It was very surreal and the sound team were also amazing! As part of an ensemble, I was honoured perform as part of the 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Vocally I'm influenced by some incredible female singers, including Ella Fitzgerald, Dame Vera Lynn, Sarah Vaughan, Julie London and The Andrews Sisters. My favourite artist has to be Tony Bennett though, his vocal tone and style is beautiful and I love his version of The Way You Look Tonight.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started performing vintage and jazz around 2012, but had been performing for many years before! I started in musicals as a youngster than trained in opera at aged 18. I followed this up with a Masters at drama school but the idea of 8 shows a week didn't appeal to me. I thought 'what do I really want to do and who am I inspired by' which led me to start my vintage act. I'm now very thankful to have performed all over the UK and Europe for the last 10+years.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I am happy singing anywhere! I've performed in theatres to hundreds of audience members and I've sung in someone's back garden to five people. My favourite events are probably those that mean something to someone (I once sang 1940s hits at an amazing gentleman's 100th birthday party), but I also love to create a jazzy atmosphere at a drinks reception.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

My setup is usually very quick (approx 20 minutes) but I like to arrive around 45 minutes prior to have a good sound check and meet the client. Usual set times are:
60 minutes
90 minutes
2 x 45 minutes
2 x 60 minutes

Are you happy to perform outside?

I'm happy to perform outside but ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area if possible.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I always provide clients with a repertoire list to choose from. Clients are welcome to make suggestion and choose favourites, or I can put it together myself. I am happy to learn new songs prior to the event but usually limit this to five, and just ask for at least two week's notice.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients tend to comment on the vintage style of performance, commenting that the vocals, look and music contribute to the atmosphere of the event!
