About / Biography

The Snapbacks are a premier live party band based in the North West of England, bringing unforgettable live music to weddings, parties and corporate events across the UK.

We're a collective of professional musicians united by a love of funk, soul and R&B, with one simple mission: to create incredible live performances that keep dance floors packed all night long.

With decades of combined experience performing at weddings and events, we know exactly how to read a room, build the atmosphere and deliver the soundtrack to an unforgettable celebration. From the first song to the final encore, our goal is simple: to make sure you and your guests have the time of your lives.

Our repertoire spans the 1950s right through to today's biggest hits. Whether you're dreaming of timeless Motown classics, disco anthems, 90s R&B favourites from Lauryn Hill and TLC, or modern artists like RAYE and Olivia Dean, we'll create a setlist that reflects your style while keeping guests of every generation on the dance floor.

When you book The Snapbacks, everything is taken care of. We provide a fully self-contained live show complete with professional sound, stage lighting and a DJ service between sets, making the entertainment for your event completely hassle-free.

All we need is two standard power sockets, a performance space of at least 4m x 3m and a dance floor ready for action!

So, if you're looking for a band that combines exceptional musicianship, infectious energy and a passion for getting everyone dancing, we'd love to be part of your celebration.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least 4 x 3 metres, and two mains plug sockets for power. Please remember to leave additional space for your guests to dance in, as they will definitely be getting their boogie on!

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, all of our prices include our full sound and lighting rig suitable for up to 400 guests. If your event is larger than this, please let us know as we may need to arrange to bring extra equipment with us.

What information do you require about a venue?

Please let us know access details (for example if there are stairs, lifts, or a long walk from the parking to the stage) so we can allow extra time to load our equipment in. If your venue has a sound limiter, please let us know as soon as possible. We are very familiar performing with sound limiters and are happy to liaise direct with the venue for technical details.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! We regularly provide a DJ service for our clients and are happy to take requests provided there is either WiFi or mobile internet reception at the venue.

My event/venue requires insurance and/or documentation, do you have these?

We have public liability insurance (PLI) up to a value of £10m, which is the standard requested by most venues.

All of our equipment is PAT tested anually.

If your event requires anything else, please let us know...we've probably dealt with it before!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We've performed at some of the UK's premier events spaces such as ballrooms, stately homes, exhibition centres, theatres and more. One of our favourites has to be performing underneath Concorde for a corporate Summer party!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As funk-soul obsessives, we love the classics like Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and more...but we have favourites from every decade! Kool and the Gang, Whitney Houston, Lauryn Hill, Faith Evans, Destiny's Child, RAYE, Olivia Dean...we could go on!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Between us, we have decades of live events experience. We all started pro gigs when we were still teenagers, going on to study music at a higher level. Since then, we've all cut our teeth on the function and tribute circuits at everything from small parties with 30 guests all the way up to festivals with 10,000s. We met each other playing in other bands on the circuit, but it was our shared love of funk, soul and RnB that led us to form The Snapbacks!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all kinds of events, but the ones that stick on our minds are those where you can just tell the crowd are ready to party before you've even played a single note. More often than not those are the weddings, but we've had a fair few corporates who give them a run for their money. Regardless of how the crowd is at the start of the night, we guarantee to have them up dancing by the end!

What eras of music do you cover?

Everything from the 1950s right to the present day! We focus on funk, soul, Motown, disco, and RnB styles, but our repertoire covers all eras and has a range to suit all occasions.

Love your classic Motown? So do we! Want to hear 90s classics like Lauryn Hill and TLC? We've got 'em. Want to throw in a bit of RAYE and Olivia Dean? No problem!

Whatever your tastes, we can put together a show that will keep everyone up dancing and singing along.

Can you DJ afterwards or do I need to hire a DJ as well?

Don't worry, we've got it covered. Our DJ service is available for a small additional fee after the end of our show.

What will you wear to perform?

As funk/soul/Motown obsessives, we have a carefully-curated wardrobe packed full of 60s and 70s-inspired outfits for wearing on stage.

If your event has a specific dress code you would like the band to adhere to, please let us know when booking. However, most people are used to the band dressing a little...differently to the guests!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We need a minimum of 90 minutes prior to the first performance to set up and carry out a full soundcheck. If this clashes with another part of your event, we offer the option of arriving earlier in the day, however this can incur an extra cost.

We normally perform 2 x 1-hour sets with our free DJ service in between. We find this gives the best coverage of live music throughout an event and encourages the most people up to dance. We can offer alternatives (such as 3 x 45-minute sets) if you prefer, however we often find this is less engaging for the audience.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We perform many outdoor gigs throughout the year and our sound and lighting systems are more than powerful enough to handle the extra demands of outdoor performance. However, the performance area must be sufficiently shielded from the weather (e.g. under a gazebo or similar). We also strongly recommend a raised stage for outdoor events as floor-level stages can be easily flooded in the event of rain, presenting an electrical hazard.

We always travel with heavy-duty extension leads, but the power supply should ideally be within 5 metres of the stage.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

If you have a handful of funk-soul favourites that you just need to hear, then tell us and we will make sure we play them!

However, we usually advise against writing a whole setlist in advance of your event, as we need to be ready to 'read the room' on the night. We have built up decades of experience of live events and often adjust our sets on-the-fly to make sure we keep the dancefloor bouncing.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

The most common feedback we get is how there is something for everyone in a Snapbacks set. We specialise in funk, soul, disco, Motown and RnB, but we hand-pick our sets from over 7 decades of music to make sure you get the vibes you want at your event.

How far will you travel to perform?

The Snapbacks perform across the UK as standard. We can also facilitate overseas performances with sufficient notice.
