I asked The River Jazz Quartet to play at my mother's funeral and wake: her will specified "New Orleans music to cheer the attenders" and The River Jazz Quartet filled the role perfectly. At the wake they changed to the sort of 1930's and 40's swing that Mother grew up with, and also played one of Jan's own compositions from the 1970's as a special treat.
