Review Centre: Swing Bands

"I don't often do reviews, but thought I really should in this case. I saw Andy Ax perform at the Gin and Prosecco Festival in Norwich. He'd already done a show in the afternoon apparently, and did another 2 hours in the evening. It would be fair to say that I was very impressed! Andy is a phenomenal vocalist - think Jamie Cullum / Harry Connick Jr / Michel Buble, although the thing I liked most about him is that he doesn't try to imitate the singers who originally performed the songs, but sings them in his own voice, if that makes sense! And what an incredible voice! He was fully engaged with the audience and the audience loved every second of it from the Hen Parties to the Family on the front table to the elderly ladies who sat and watched, everyone was catered for and involved. Of course, the kind of music Andy performs isn't to everyone's taste, but if you like a bit of Swing, you can't go wrong with Andy Ax. I can't wait to see him again!"

"The band were fantastic on the night and a joy to deal with throughout. They really delivered in line with expectations for what was an ambitious and high profile event for our club. Talented musicians that were great to observe and enjoy from a seated position and equally from the dance floor which spilled over on more than one occasion. Great to bring the New Year with these guys and gals on stage. Many many thanks."

We chose you firstly because of your fabulous and wide ranging repertoire of classic and awesome songs we love, and as soon as you started playing we knew we had made a perfect choice! Your friendly relaxed energy and ability to interact with the crowd made a great atmosphere, you have a great sound and you were note perfect from start to finish. There was something for everyone, and our family and friends all had a fantastic time (we had so many positive comments about you guys!) Not only was the music spot on but you were so friendly and professional, both on the day itself and leading up to it, the whole process was very easy and stress free. "We recently booked The Ace Jazz Band for our wedding at the end of June. Needless to say, they were absolutely amazing. We had them set up on the lawn of our venue as a surprise for our guest (we hadn’t told anyone about them) and the guys were extremely accommodating in doing this. We asked them to arrive at a different entrance to the venue so our guests wouldn’t see them, which they were absolutely fine with doing so. Their performance on the day was first class and all of our guests loved them - and are still talking about them to this day! All the guys are extremely friendly and were a pleasure to speak to, before and on the day. Couldn’t recommend them enough!!"

"The band were such a great fit for our evening! There was never an empty dance floor as they played jazzy takes on popular classics as well as chart hits – so it suited everyone! We were all really chuffed with their performance and we would 100% use them again. Thanks!"

"Thank you all so much for your amazing performance on Saturday evening, which was everything I could have hoped for! Your music was brilliant, got everyone up dancing and I can’t tell you how many people told me afterwards 'how brilliant the 1920s band were’. As soon as you played your first song I knew we’d struck gold! It couldn’t have been more perfect given the whole Gatsby theme and everyone so dressed up, so thank you all so much. You may be interested to know that we raised an astonishing £7,000 on the night! With just 96 people in the room…amazing! Thanks again Matthew and I'll not hesitate to recommend you if anyone should ask me for a fabulous 20’s Jazz Band!"

"They were so accommodating and even added a new song to their repertoire as I requested Gary Smiths favourite song of Bring Me Sunshine, he was over the moon when he heard it. So many of our guests were mesmerized by Max and the music, we had lots commenting on how fantastic they were and how lovely it was to have a proper band playing! Everything was perfect from the initial e-mail to the very end, I can't recommend them highly enough. Thank you so very much"

In fact, one couple I know have already been in touch with you about their wedding next year, and another I know are hoping to ask you to perform at another party too. "Just wanted to drop you a quick email to say thank you for Friday night. You were absolutely amazing, and better than we imagined. The staff have all said how brilliant you were. Thank you for being part of our Works party. We really enjoyed having you there and the music you played was just what we wanted and hoped for. "To sing for BBC Children in Need it was so kind of the brilliant Sinatra/Rat Pack/Swinger to sing for us at Boots in Lancaster, give his time and talent and raise £225 in a couple of hours. My goodness what a talent we were so lucky he brought a real crowd in but due to rules and data protection can’t share how much people loved him."
