Review Centre: Solo Musicians

"Billy came to play at the special meal we had organised in a local restaurant for a party of 18 friends to celebrate our civil partnership. Our friends have impossibly diverse and eclectic taste in music, but Billy’s playing of classical, Spanish, flamenco and pop music kept everyone happy. He has a unique playing style and his arrangements of music for the classical guitar was quite magical. Billy had a good sense of tempo taking it up or down a notch to suit the event. Who would have thought that a gig could encompass a flawless playing of Albeniz’ lyrical Asturias and end with a rousing rendition of Boney M’s Rasputin. Many thanks Billy – we will look out for any public gigs you do and hope to see you again before long! "

"I just wanted to say how marvellous the CG string quartet were, it was so lovely to hear strings playing in the church and they sounded so beautiful. I did thank them before we left the church but I just wanted you to know how pleased we were. Thank you very much for being so organised and efficient. "We asked John to play a part in our wedding - in particular the afternoon drinks reception on a boat that sailed up and down the river Dart. Firstly, John was musically incredible, playing a mixture of French and Italian cafe tunes. We felt we were on the French Riviera. Secondly, and arguably more importantly, I gave John a small window of time where guests and the boat would arrive at shore and we’d set off. He arrived on time, was in contact with me to provide his arrival status, and even with the hassle of parking he ran a mile with his accordion to make it on time. I couldn’t recommend him highly enough "

"I booked Alfie for a works party this week and just wanted some nice background music for people to mingle with and he delivered just that – the songs were great, he set just the right atmosphere I was looking for and I had some great feedback from my colleagues. I would definitely recommend him and will no doubt be booking him again for another event."

She made the event so special with great energy, immense musical skills and just knowing exactly which songs to play responding to the mood of the people there. She got everyone dancing. "We spent most of our evenings in the Lookout Bar, with the excellent Stratford and Borrell, a duo with a seemingly endless and varied repertoire, virtually everything except opera and rap. Very capable musicians with Paula on flute and sax and Mark on guitar and vocals. Their rendition of Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street will be a long-standing memory of our first cruise. Paula's saxophone is a tremendous experience. Thanks guys."
